Hi
I just moved to Live Oak and I really like the police presence I see.
How can I show the cops my appreciattion? Show up at the substation with a fruit basket or something? I don't want to look like I'm trying to suck up to them. (Don't want to insult with them with Donuts either )

Shoot them an anonymous email and tell them what a great job you think they are doing and how much you appreciate it. They will probably post it on the bulletin board or something.

Instead of sending an email, consider sending your appreciation in a letter to your city council representative, asking him/her to please pass your comments along. If Live Oak operates like San Antonio, it will be seen by your council rep, the city manager and the police chief's office as it works its way through channels to get to your local substation. Letting positive comments go through those channels puts many feathers in the caps of your local officers.

When you run into one somewhere, just a simple thank you for your service means so much.

I love to tell the Airman Basics and their families that when we run into them on graduation Fridays/weekends when they are out on town pass....it means so much to ANYONE who is willing to put on a uniform and fight and die if needed to protect and defend OUR freedoms!

That's an excellent idea!

We do this - due to the nature of our business, we have lots of give away/promotional items. Sometimes just giving something specifically to these folks means a lot! Last Oktoberfest in WC we gave some extra beer steins to the guys that were working the event as a gesture of thanks - the looks on their faces was awesome!

LOL!
Yep. Homeland security problably has some type of search thingy that will red flag a post that that has "shoot them" and "cops" in the same post. Oh oh, now they are going to get me too

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I will do them all. I always wave at them when I driving and they pass by me in their cars. I hope I'm not freaking them out

Well, they're probably "freaking out" that all your fingers are waving at them, not just the famous one.
