how so? i dont understand the comparison. are they a corporation? i mean why do people get mad when a team(business) invests in itself to make sure they win a championship(PROFIT!!!). is that not the point?

I was making a comparison that Reagan HS excels in High School sports , the same way the Boston Celtics were a dynasty in the 1960s- 1970s. Also I get the comparison because of green jerseys.

We are looking at a home in the Hardy Oaks Elem/Lopez MS/Reagan HS area. I'm new to NEISD (we've always lived in NISD). Here's my concern. We are a down-to-earcth middle class family. All schools have a stereo-type associated with them. I have "heard" students at Reagan are all rich kids driving BMWs and that since money is prevalent so are drugs.
I'd like the truth from people with actual experience in the school. Are kids exclusive? It there diversity? Are opportunities available for everyone? Are cliques more pronounced than in any other high school?
School are 90% of my decision on a move for my family. So any real feedback would be so appreciated! Other apreas we've considered are O'Connor HS, Clark HS, the new Brandeis HS, and MacArthur.

Okay i've delivered to many school here in SA and I would like to share my experiences and give you some tips, All kids are rude in ever schools, Your kids will see everything! It all comes down to how you raised your kids to make their own decisions. However; I do understand were you comming from and I would recomend Reagan, they have awesome facilities, and good security. But be warned Next year Potranco West HS is going to open and thats going to blow the pants off Reagans! in both size and security! The schools you should avoid are John Paul Stevens HS, Jon Jay.

They may not be a "dynasty", but considering they have won the Dan Cook Cup (given to the top sports program in the San Antonio area) two of the last five years, one could say that they excell in sports. I have no allegiance to Reagan, but I can recognize that they may become the next SA sports dynasty... that is unless Boerne or Smithson Valley take it from them. They are just following the likes of Churchill in the '80's-'90's, Lee in the '70's, and Jefferson in the '50's-'60's.

so were those wins consecutive? thats not even the majority. 3 of 5 is more like a dynasty.
they have a larger pool, no one can really compare them to the likes of a pro team. there are private schools that do pull in these kind of deals, but i dont see that here.
when i worked in houston i had a good customer and occasional hang out buddy named Gerald Green. they kept him back as a 5th year senior and the school "paid" him to stick around and a few other kids from arounf the state in the last 25years...gerald went on to go to the celtics of all places and now that he is in dallas i hope i can hang out with him more often.

I think you are taking the comparison way too literally, but Reagan does have consecutive "wins" in the 5A category of the Dan Cook Cup - 2003 and 2004; with at least two other wins since then. For those unfamiliar with the "Cup", the San Antonio Express News assigns points to the athletic accomplishments of each school's individual sports programs, and then determines which school had the best performance in a given year. Being good in only one sport doesn't necessarily mean a great score, otherwise Judson would have won it some times - a good swimming, tennis, etc. team is also required.
And for the Greyhound fans out there, yes, I know that Boerne has more consecutive "wins" than Reagan, but they are in 4A, and the discussion centered on whether Reagan excelled in sports.

I was just making a metaphoric comparison. You will notice that Reagan Hs has green jerseys, the Celtics have green jerseys. I notice that Reagan HS competes extremely well in manys sports(Cross Country, Baseball, Soccer, Football...etc) , and the Boston Celtics that were a dynasty team in the 1960s-1970s. I was just comparing them.
