This is a terrific video of San Antonio during the time of Hemisfair 68. It's quite long (10 minutes) but it shows how some of the venues were built, especially the Tower of Americas. It also has great shots of some of the long gone pavilions which existed all around the base of the Tower. This should bring back old memories for some people and give new residents of the city a unique view of how the Tower came to be and what Hemisfair was like back then.

Wonderful, informative short, loved it...but that music was awful, I mean, it's probably great stuff if you dig house music (I dont, suprise, surprise), but it's just not well-suited at all to a 1968 production. Maybe something like, say, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass - that would have at least been a bit more period-specific. Jim Cullum maybe? Heck, even BONGO JOE would've done the trick! And I'm 35, so I'm not some senior citizen mouthing off about the sorry state of this "new fangled machine-music racket"

Looking at that video again of Hemisfair 68', the video is still futuristic! Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Very cool...did anyone else notice all those shots of San Antonio's light rail system in 1968? Wonder whatever happened to it...

The Monorail? They kept crashing to the point that no one would ride it. Besides the system was only on the grounds of Hemisfair anyway. Once the fair was over, it lost it's value.
