Awesome! I forgot to take a picture during the window of time where the tattoo isn't all messed up (puffy, scabby, etc) so I'll have to give it a few days before taking a picture to post.

Alrighty. Took forever to heal. Isn't fully healed yet. I'm not super happy with it. The guy who was supposed to do it, Doug, told me he "didn't do butterflies" when I got there. Long story. Anyway, I've already found someone else to fix it and make it more like what I was looking for... you just never know how it's going to turn out (I liked the outline).. anyway, here ya go.

Anyway, I'm getting it done at Divine Line (Douglas Billian). He's the only SA tattoo artist to be invited by Kat Von D to her MusInk show! My first one with him but I have a friend referral and his site shows you his work. So excited!
Cool info on A7X - never really looked into it.

Billian's work looks great!

Well then maybe we can all get friend/neighbor/WC discounts!

Hey mpd33, I just realized ~ Doug didn't do the whole piece for you, or just not the butterfly? Can you give us the "Cliff's notes" version of the long story? (And I tell ya, tattoo artists can be primadonna's sometimes, huh? LOL!!)

Yeah, I'm over the ego of a tattoo arteest. Doug didn't do any of the tattoo. He passed me off to someone else when I got there. I had sent him pictures ahead of time but he didn't mention the "I don't do butterflies" policy until I arrived. I know I wouldn't have gone in if he had told me that which makes me think that is why he didn't tell me. Anyway, he promised me that the other guy was an insect expert and he would "blow my mind". He was wrong. Again, I liked the outline but it just didn't come together like I had hoped. In hindsight, I should have walked out when he passed me off but it happened so smoothly I was barely aware that he wasn't going to do it. At the time, I thought the other guy would sketch the outline for Doug and Doug would do the actual tattoo. By the time I figured it out, I was committed to getting it, I think.
Since then I found someone (Jessica) at Mind's Eye who, I think, understands my vision. She took pictures of it and when it is appropriately healed (he went way too deep in a few places) I'll let her show me what she has in mind and we'll fix it up. Oh well...
On a related note, DH is going to see Ethan at Tiki Tattoo today. Anyone seen his work? He's very good. He does a lot of traditional stuff, which isn't really my thing, but he does it very well.
