Default Does anyone work at Seaworld ?

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone here works at Sea world or knows anyone who works at Sea World.

I wanted to know if it is a good company to work for.
And even though it is open a certain amount of time, are there jobs
there that require year round work?

Any info on working at this park is appreciated.

thank you!

They don't pay a lot but they are one of the most professional operated companies I ever worked for.

My daughter works there and made management in the first year. They seem open to promotion for the very motivated types, but I think most of the people working for them are kids and not very motivated kids. They do a lot of nice things for the employees and us as family members get some great perks. I wouldn't want to raise a family off the pay though...

Default Please Dont do it.

At Sea World it is all about who you know. I worked there for 3 seasons and they are the most Unprofessional company to work with. If you are over 18 they still treat you like a child because they only most have 15 years- 17 year olds working for them. They are truly disrespectful and DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES. They have to muc drama going on with all the kids that work there and the managers act like kids their self so if you wanna work for a company full of kids and have a 16 year old as your manager go right ahead. They dnt pay anything and in some cases some jobs pay more than the manager jobs. It is a very stressful job and if you are going to school or planning on doing anything whith your free time think again. They will work you like a Slave thats why we would call it Slave World. I just stopped working there and just barely been able to go back to school cause they WILL NOT BE FLEX in your life. Trust me you sound smart make a better choice than there. Your life will be so stressed with all the problems there u will not know what to do TRUST ME. i feel great just as soon as i left my life felt the best! this will be u if you work there! lol Im serious.

If you are looking to work directly with the animals at SeaWorld you are going to have a hard time finding an open position. Those jobs are in very high demand, usually require zoological experience and are typically full time/year round positions. I was an aquatinted with one of the killer whale trainers when the park opened 20 years ago and he found it to be a challenging, rewarding and fulfilling job. In short he loved working there.

As far as onegirl83's experience it is probably typical of a seasonal worker in one of the fast food joints in the park. It also sounds like she feels entitled to work for an employer that caters to her schedule, not theirs. Sheesh! It is called work for a reason.

No, unfortunately onegirls experience is very common for all the seasonal workers. I have had 3 students work there. They dont pay overtime, work you sometime 10 to 12 hours a day, at different jobs too, front gate greeter, ride operator, and cashier. The "managers" are who you know. My son worked very hard, never missed a shift, or was late, applied for every advance, and they hired people outside of the rides to run it. No experience, they leave the people without breaks, forget about them for extended periods, Yes its work, but Managers, should also know what the term and responsibility of that job means.

They may have new management on the horizon. I believe Anheuser Busch (sorry if misspelled) is selling out or at least the parks.

My daughter (SeaWorld employee) always forwards me the e-mails Mr. Busch sends out and there is no plan (as of right now) to sell the parks. They make quite a bit of money and provide a good public service, so I wouldn't think they (the future A-B/In-Bev corp.) would want to let them go. Then again I'm not a professional business analyst, I just have access to inside e-mail.
as far as working there, it is tough. both my kids worked there and only one made it through the first year. Son worked on the games and he was usually screwed over when it came to breaks and working tons of hours, so he quit. Daughter started at the front gate and was picked up for management in the first few months. She was still worked to the bone and ended up taking a pay cut to go answer phones in their call center. That job is pretty cushy and you get to hear a lot of very retarded questions..

Yep, they have said they dont intend to sell Sea world at this time. But, big business keeps these kind of things close knit. When the sale happens, it will, or won't. Still have two that work there now. One at the front gate, he hates it, but, for a 17 yr old, summer job, they do allow you off with 2 weeks notice. thats about the only thing. Other than that. yes, favorite nicname, slaveworld the seasonal pay is only $6.15 per hour, no ot, and no guarantee of job next season either.
