Default Sahm

K, so I have a friend who is a SAHM and wants to do Medical Transcripting @ Home. Can anyone help point her in the right direction as far as actually getting a job. Apparently she has tried dice, monster, sahm but she says everyone wants you to have experience first. I'm wondering if anyone else who has had this same problem. Please PM me if you can help me help her. Muchos!

Some of my friends who used to do that from home have not had much luck with it lately. Apparently the HIPPA rules have made it almost impossible for this type of work to be done by an outside party anymore.

I don't do it myself so I'm just going off of what I have heard & not what I know to be FACTS so don't << at me if I'm off base

I have been doing medical transcribing from home for almost 2 years now. You do have to be certified and it takes about a year of school (SAC has the classes) and most everyone does want you to have at least 1-2 years of exp. It is VERY hard to get into. I just happened to luck-out (blessed) my husband plays golf with a guy who knew a guy kind of thing. I had to start work for little to nothing as far as pay, and the hours were not the best, but it has paid off now. Your friend needs to make sure this is something she really wants, it is very hard on your body as you are sitting and typing for HOURS. Also most of the work that is offered at home is for contractors/self employed so you get no benefits. This means if you are sick- you dont get paid, and you also have to do your own taxes. Hope this helps.

Nicholasa, thanks for the reply. She did get certification from Allied Schools, yah took her about a year. I think she paid a couple of grand to take the class, so I think she really wants to do this. So your saying it's the buddy system again... :O)
