We may be relocating and I'm having a hard time while looking on the maps and reading the posts here on areas, finding out what is actually near here for residential areas. We want great elementary and middle schools, possibly private, and house around $350,000 or lower with 3 stall and 4 bedrooms. Would love pool in back or community pool. I just don't want my husband to have to take longer then 15-20 minutes to get home at night. He has longer now and misses kids activities. Thanks!

McAllister Park is located near 281/410...just north of the airport. No pool in the park, but it's a great family area. The homes in that area are established (20 yrs or more - great trees!) and the schools are very good - North East ISD. With the new interchange between 410/281 it will cut commutes a little (no having to go through stoplights). Where would your husband be working?

The area near the 410 and 281 interchange was developed back in the 80s. If you want newer homes, you should shift your focus farther north to the 1604 and 281 interchange. On a real estate site, search for zip codes 78258, 78259 and 78232. You might also find some in 78247, but you'll probably be happier with the schools in those other zips. 78248 is nice too, and I think it'd be smart to stay inside of 1604 because major toll road construction is in the works for the next 5 years on 281 north of 1604. But if you're determined to stay near 281, those other zips are closer to it.

There is a new KB neighborhood going in at NW Military and Wurzbach. It's about 15 minutes from the airport, so not quite in the exact 410/218 area, but its probably the closest new construction in that price range. Its called Woods of Alon.

There are lots of wonderful neighborhoods in the 410/281 area - Northwoods, Castle Hills, Alamo Heights, plus many others. I highly suggest contacting a real estate agent...an experienced one will be a tremendous help locating a good neighborhood for you, and will also be able to help with your school questions.
