Default Stone Oak: What area is most accessible?

I'm considering moving into Stone Oak from Houston. I currently live in Sugar Land and am spoiled by the master planning of the area. Considering there are a hundred thousand plus people in the area, the traffic is rarely a problem. If I want to live in Stone Oak but have easy freeway access and limited traffic (within Stone Oak as well), what is the best area to focus on?

Evans?
Blanco?
Heubner?

Thanks!

Ha-- "limited traffic" and "Stone Oak" = Oxymoron . Make sure to plan for the toll road traffic and other projects before you finally decide on something. That area will be a mess for quite some time.

There is only one answer...Sontera. I am building a house off Hardy Oak just north of Sontera BLVD. Sontera has the advantage of direct access with an existing exit to 281 (the new toll road project will start just north of the existing Sontera exit) going both North and South. In addition - The neighborhood I am building in - The Quarry at Iron Mountain - is off of Hardy Oak which connects to the 1604 Access Road - so I can come and go from my Stone Oak neighborhood without ever having to deal with Stone Oak Traffic. There is one other neighborhood off of Hardy Oak and that is Iron Mountain Ranch which is about three years old. There are existing homes for sale in that neighborhood. My neighborhood (the Quarry) has six inventory homes as well as lots to build on. The price range for both communities is about the same - $300-500K.

The location of both communities and the large lot size (both neighborhoods having lots starting at 1/4 acre) is hard to beat if you want to live in Stone Oak. There is a great health club nearby - Lifetime Fitness (basically brand new) and there is also great golf nearby in addition to retail along 1604. Check it out if it is in your price range. If you can close on a house prior to May 31st (my builders quarter end) then they will probably negotiate very aggressively with you.

You see, that's what I'm looking for! Thanks banker. That's the type of info you could only get from someone who has lived in Stone Oak, or studied the patterns of the area. I'll seriously look in to those neighborhoods. I really like the 1/4 acre lot aspect as well.

Any other ideas?

Huebner / 1604 never struck me as being hard to deal with. It's not exactly Stone Oak though. I did go through Stone Oak / Huebner and that was nuts.

Is there a specific reason to select Stone Oak? If we knew your criteria, people might be able to select locations based on your commute or other activities.

The Sonterra area is very commercial - mostly office buildings, and will be right next to a major hospital.

Good question. I need good schools, K-12, mature trees, 3000 sq ft, 3 car garage (or at least a large 2 car garage), and I'd really like to be closer to I-10/1604 but I can't seem to find anything in my price range over there. I'd also really like an oversized lot. Price range - under $300k (drive out).

Some houses in the Deerfield area (78248) were under 300K after negotiation and fit your criteria. Also the Hunters Creek neighborhood (78230), which is closer to I-10. Nice trees in both neighborhoods - they're a bit bigger in Hunters Creek though.
