I've enjoyed mine, and I haven't had any problems yet. You need to be aware that you have to have a motorcyle license if you operate a scooter/motorcycle with an engine size of 50cc or greater. I've found that a 250cc engine is great for SA and people who will be riding with a passenger. If I were riding alone a majority of the time, and only staying on back-roads, a 150cc I feel would be ideal. I've heard the newer 150's can get up to 100 mpg. If only doing short distance "run to the store for some sugar" type of riding a 125cc or less would be sufficient. These are just my thoughts though, and a dealer could probably match you better with your given situation.

I might add that the maintenance has been minimal. Oil change after "break-in" period has been it. Mine only holds 1 qt. of oil, and after 1,500 miles it hasn't used a single drop. I also like not having to shift gears while riding, since scooters are automatic.

I suppose if there are any downsides it would be the safety factor (read my previous posting). Also riding in the rain isn't desirable, but that's what my back-up vehicle is for. You have to watch the weather more closely. Some are also on the light side as far as gross weight goes. This is an issue in real windy weather, but nothing that experience can't teach you to handle.

Here is a link to the motorcycle handbook:

Here is the link to our states requirements:
Texas Department of Public Safety - Drivers License FAQs (http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/driver_licensing_control/faq/faq.htm#mcyc_lic - broken link)

I hate to be trowing links out all the time, but I think they'll be very useful and they pertain to our discussion.

Yes, we have done this too. The thermostat went up and the light's went off. I told my girls that if the electric bill doesn't go down then their cell phones are next You should see how dark it is in my house .
We have a small garden right now but plan on making a much bigger one (20x30) and hopefully will get a fall garden planted this year.
We have talked about getting chickens and raising our own beef but it is only in the talk stages right now. I'm sure by next year we will be doing this too. yeah, yeah, I know I could go vegetarian, but I don't see that happening.

I will be living like my grandparents Any body want to buy some eggs or butter? .

I'm right with ya. First thing is the chickens, the lamb to mow my front lawn, and then cattle. I'd love to be able to ride my horse into town but there are no places for my horse to park.

haha, that reminds me of the other day. I was driving thru the town of Bandera and there was a horse tied up outside of the Bandera Saloon. It was sooooo funny! I told my friend "only in Bandera" .
At least he wasn't drinking and driving.

They do that alot in Bandera. I love that town. We frequent the weekly rodeos out there and you can often find horses parked in town. Especially when there is a parade that day.
