Wow, I just called the Cake Shop to check on the price of a cake. For a half sheet cake with a Hello Kitty design and polka dots around it (it is of one the pictures that they have online) it will cost $110 for half a sheet size. That's crazy!

That's why I am friends with Betty. 89 cents for the mix, $1.50 for the frosting, $5 for some ice cream, tons of friends and games, and that makes the best party ever. I can't imagine spending that kind of money on a kid's cake, but to each their own.

I'd agree with you about Mrs Betty, but honestly I'm not very handy with a frosting spatula!
My personal pick is Costco if I have pay for it out of my own pocket vs company. good value and yummy cake !

Agree...$110 for a cake...and someone is not getting married? You can get two tanks of gas for that!
BTW: Second/Third on Costco (great chocolate cakes!).

Yes, I love Lucy's. I grew up on it. I am way on the other side of SA now, so it would be a pain to drive and pick the cake up. I may be able to get my dad to do it, though.

I have used Nadlers now for 2 years for cakes. They are awesome! If price isn't an object go w/Nadlers. In March we did a not sure if 1/2 or full sheet but it was for over 40 people. It was a huge cake w/Buzz Lightyear & Woody. It was a marble cake w/chocolate mousse filling & whipped frosting. It was delicious everyone wanted to know where we bought it. It was $68.
Lucys are delicious cakes too, my wedding cake was from there. But I like Nadlers better & is closer.

I would have to agree about Costco for the price and the taste. You get that big ol' cake for something like $16.99. They do not have a lot of choices but the kids never seem to mind.
I always get the cheesecake filling, with either chocolate or vanilla cake, with cream cheese frosting. mmmmm....... it is yummy.

They make Cupcakes at Costco now too, but it's the cheesecake filling in the cakes that is the best!
