If they're the ones running around committing burglaries and the other crimes, yes. That's a world apart from someone who wants to work to improve their life.

Too bad they can't be "civilized" like us, right?
If they're going to act like animals, then they should be treated as such.

True, but one person calling 99% of the demographic "thugs and gangsters" and most people agreeing doesn't exactly shed a good light on the people that are supposedly of higher character.

Seriously! "Thugs"? "Gangsters"? "Criminals"? "Scum"? "Animals"? "99%" of them?

Show me some figures on how many people participating in Section 8 commit crimes. And I'm not talking about insignificant anecdotes or seeing teenagers with baggy clothes slowly crossing the street.

This thread is easily the most prejudiced thing I have ever seen on this site. It's actually pretty shocking. I hope that none of you ever run into bad financial luck and have to depend upon the rest of San Antonio (or America) for good will.

Now now, you know they have no facts to back up their words. Silly.

yes, we're all just ignorant and don't notice a rise in break-ins and a first ever rape. I'm sure it was completely coincidence. How dare we actually expect some people to be accountable for themselves.. this country needs to wake up and realize life is not ever going to be the nirvana they want it to be.
Primo has it right and I wish there were more people like him in politics.

I think Primo is right in saying that you must not only earn, but maintain the privilege to live in a better neighborhood. I respect that viewpoint and it sounds more than fair.

Seeing a rise in break-ins and rapes and automatically blaming the minority IS ignorant, but I guess everyone needs a scapegoat to sleep at night.

I don't know about anyone else on this board, but I have been one of those who had to rely on government assistance for a period of time...a very short 2 1/2 month period of time. This, however, did not give me the right to trash someone else's property, depend on the government to "take care" of me for the rest of my life, or run around with a sense of entitlement of any kind. It's one thing to be poor and needing help, it's quite another to take advantage of the system and then expect to not be held accountable.

I think most people have done their time at the bottom of the barrel and I know I've been there and done that. Most of us take it as a lesson and do strive to succeed and never go back. Then there are the professionals that enjoy wallowing in the mud..

and the section 8 housing that opened in front of Westcreek was the problem. You don't need numbers or stats because there was NOTHING else in the area that changed.. We used to be out on the edge of everything and the place was very serene. Then those townhouses were built and suddenly everything changed.
I'd say the ignorance belongs to a person that can't do simple math...
