I think you meant Spring Vistas instead of Sierra Vista? Spring Vistas and Sierra Springs are considered two separate neighborhoods but most people probably don't realize it because the houses are all built by the same builder (DR Horton) and the neigborhoods kind of run together.

I am very familiar with Pease and it is a great school. In fact, it was a recognized school for several years. Sometimes one person's negative perception is not always the reality. My advice: stop and visit the school and talk to the folks who work there...then make up your mind about them.

Something to consider: You said your husband is going to recruit near Ingram. Consider going a little north of Timber Ridge and look at some of the neighborhoods in the The Great Northwest or Northwest Crossing. I personally am a fan of Silver Creek, but there are some newer neighborhoods along Tezel Rd. If your husband needs to get to Ingram, he can drive down Grissom Road toward Bandera and cut through TimberHill Drive and take him right to Ingram.

The second reason to consider that area is that there are a huge number of foreclosures and I'm guessing that properties are going to be available for rent or purchase.

Not all of this area is perfect, and yes, we have our fair share of some tagging, but I don't think it is as bad as Timber Ridge. It is a shame about Timber Ridge - that was another good place that has just fallen to taggers and such. If you drive through there, you see pockets of beautiful homes, well maintained yards, and then a dump.

Another Westcreek resident here. Not sure about how pricing fits your needs but I see lots available, there is an active HOA and most of this area is well-kept. Lots of military here too. Make sure you realize that in NISD if a school is full called "capped," your child will be sent to another school until there is room for him in your designated school. I think this is just for elementary k-5, but you should check.

There are numerous places to live that have relatively easy access to both of those locations, are you looking in one place for a reason? If not, you might want to broaden your search...

Cheers! M2

My husband will be recruiting across from the Ingram Park Mall and we need to be able to get to Lackland, so it seems like a convenient location, I just worry if it's a good area for my family. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I Have to tell you that you pick one of the best neighborhood, is really safe and people are nice you got a duck pond and the schools are good we live there for seven years,we left to wichita falls and now my husband is going to korea so Im going back to live in san antonio tx and Im looking for a house on heritage, theres so many things to do in san antonio just avoid going to guadalupe street,gn mcmullen and some sides of military they are bad and they will live you with no car.

Moved to Heritage in 1978. Back then many many houses were not even built yet. those on the hill were just a thought and a cleared field. With in Heritage the only place not to live would be behind the Elem. School close to the nextdoor subdivision. The townhouses aren't as bad as they used to be. I live in one. Churing Rd. I think isn't the drug din it once was it has since moved out. Look for the areas that have clean street, up kepts homes and you will normally find a good location within Heritage. HOA used to be a GREAT Strong Association but our new president on the board isn't as tough and strong as the previous one. But they are learning. WE still have a bi-monthly (maybe quaterly) newsletter, Also neighborhood watch with cellar on patrol.
We just got our new automated trash cans so that should help with cleanliness. Another are in heritage never to purchase a home is between Heritage Road and Dugas on the right (playground) side of the pond. Reason it used to be the old dump from the first few phases of building. Ray Ellison Homes.... weren't really the best made home but they still stand.
No matter where you move to make sure several things. KNOW the Low water Crossings and the Flood Zones. Churing is in a flood zone.
As for Schools.... Middle Schools are all harsh all over, no new news on the Vale on except it is wi-fi capable or something like that. High Schools are also fairly harsh all over. Health Careers High SChool ( OW Holmes ), is suppose to be great.
Potranco is a mess during rush hour, but it keeps moving for the most part. It is a growing area and lots going on.
Thugs in the area are Thugs everywhere. They move from one new housing are to another constantly. Newer houses get hit more often, older houses later on.
Look at crime stat maps and police calls to areas or location. the local Police are really nice and helpful in Heritage. I have had great relations with them and they seem to keep informed as to the going ons. I know if my fence gets tags. One call and all is taken care of. If my parent's alarm goes off... they are there in due time. Local fire department is also a great group of people.

Holmes is Business Careers HS. Health Careers HS is in the Medical Center. And I've heard both were great, along with the Communication Arts HS at Taft. Well, they're great if the student is motivated and the parents stay involved.

amen to that --- my cousin's daugther is a sophomore at health careers and has a meltdown every couple months or so due to the huge work load and "not having a normal high school life"...

but mom is always there to listen, hug and get her thru it...
