Next semester will be my last at Northwest Vista and I am planning on transferring to UTSA after graduation. But UTSA's tuition is ten times what I'm paying at Vista so I'm not sure how I can afford it. At Vista the Pell Grant covers everything and I haven't paid a cent out of pocket. At UTSA it is unlikely to be the same. What are some grants and scholarships I should check out if I plan on going to UTSA? If I have to take out any kind of loan then I'd rather not go, because for what I study it's not worth the debt.

Just curious how much UTSA is these days? It has been over 15 years since I graduated from there.

FAFSA. Talk to your admissions counselor. Apply for all the grants as possible. Take out loans. Sucks, but you might have to do it.

From what the website told me, 10k a semester. But since I'm living at home it would be a little less.

Not for the 2016-2017 year. I want to try a semester or two and see how I like it.

Not being cruel here.....but knowing you were going to be attending a college where everything wasn't free (or, at least, being paid for by taxpayers), why haven't you been working part-time jobs to start saving the money for yourself?

Why don't you look at other options to include online programs from reputable, major universities (not the crap Phoenix/ITT/for profit scams out there). There are much, much better programs out there for less than 10k/semester. FWIW, I wouldn't pay 10k/semester to attend a small, regional school like UTSA when better options exist. Do some research, look at options that meet your criteria, and after that's done, then make an educated decision.

Work study, part-time job. Loans are an albatross for years after you graduate.
Also, aren't the ACCD schools going to start offering some bachelor degrees soon?

UTSA is closer to 5000 per semester, not 10. Although I am not sure of the exact amount this year, we paid about 5400/semester last year for our son, and a similar amount this year at UT Austin.

The 10K amount is including estimated cost of housing, as the OP alluded.
