Once the Army got wind of the plan to build a major arterial road on land still owned by the Army in the buffer zone around Camp Bullis, they threatened to void the agreement that loaned the Eisenhauer Park land to the county. That effectively scuttled any notion of extending La Cantera Parkway.

Site plans show that the proposed route would not interfere with Eisenhower Park, but would run between the park and quarry to the south. It would intersect NW Military Hwy about 1/2 mile south of the Camp Bullis entrance. Rogers Ranch when finished will contain 1,410 lots. I don't understand the Army preventing Dominion from building in a "buffer" zone when thousands of homes have already been built against Camp Bullis' border. Camp Bullis is surrounded by arterial roadways: Stone Oak Parkway (1.5 miles from border), Loop 1604 (1.6 miles), and I-10 is less than a mile. There has been no overcrowding prevention around Camp Bullis and it is way too late to try now. This is something that should have been taken care of in the 70s.
It is located some 13-miles from Fort Sam. If a new "Camp Bullis" were built somewhere around New Berlin or La Vernia it would be about 15-miles from Fort Sam. Dense-growth prevention measures could be taken place and the area would be suitable for many decades to come.

Well, here's a better question for those who are seriously taking the time to think about whether The Rim shopping center is "upscale" or "just another strip center"...Yes, it's a shopping center, but it honestly is just how people interpret it...there is no wrong or right...ONLY OPINIONS. Who cares what people think or if they don't agree with you?
Personally, I think it's a strip center that markets to those who are looking for a different feel of the ordinary strip center. It's definitely not half of what's it is going to be in the future. With the additions of IKEA, and restaurants such as Harry's Pacific Grille, Stonewerks, Lion and Rose Pub (don't quite know if that's the exact name), and Maggiano's Little Italy it is sure to become an area of town where people gather at night to meet with friends to grab a drink and a place where business meetings will take place.
Y'ALL (YES, I USED Y'ALL) MAY ALSO WANT TO THINK about :
THE ADDITION OF HOTEL TALAVERA, which will house
*152 hotel rooms
*133 condos
*1st class Bar
*2 Restaurants (name unknown)
~one which seats 80 people
~the other which will seat 40 people; POOLSIDE
~with a poolside "taqueria" (soooo San Antonio )
*Ballroom
*2 meeting rooms
I guess for those who really want to say The Rim is not really a big deal may want to ask themselves...Just why am I really talking about it?...hmmm
Have a great day!

It is already under construction and I believe it is slated for a late 2009 opening.

Not just any Target... a Super Target!
It is the centerpiece of Village @ The Rim, which is the more open-air-mall development within The Rim.

Well it has a Starbucks and Pizza Hut inside and has a large selection like a Super Target. It is actually a little nicer than most Super Targets.
