bluevalentine, since you're looking for a place to work away from home, I would also suggest connecting with the co-working movement here in SA. There are a regular group of people who meet to all work at various coffeehouses or other facilities around town certain days of the week. It provides a sense of cameraderie for those who are traditionally isolated at home or in solo working situations. Also makes for great new connections who could be helpful to your professionally. See the wiki at
Coworking wiki / CoworkingSanAntonio and sign up for the facebook group to get new location announcements, etc.
Also, I strongly encourage you to try working at Olmos Perk or Little Aussie Bakery - both free wifi and very popular with solo workers. Madhatters is another favorite free wifi place but they have a "no cell phone" policy so you have to take calls outside on the sidewalk - not super conducive to getting work done.
