We are empty nesters, so won't have kiddos in school, but the two near us look wonderful. I believe the two builders in this part of Westcreek are Armadillo and Lennar. There are some great incentives out there right now. Good luck!

Welcome neighbor and congrats on buying a home in Highpoint. I remember you were looking at that area back in late October 2006. My wife and I drove around Highpoint today looking at the changes since last time. We like the views and many houses have mostly brick (or brick/stone combinations) exteriors that is nice. We are also empty nesters, but my younger daughter and her husband purchased a Centex home across the street in Westcreek. The community center area (25 acres) will eventually be developed into a hiking trail/picnic areas...different than the sports park down the street.

We went look at houses on Monday, saw all of the construction. Now it seems like we have too much to choose from...lol. I like the centex homes. We also look at some houses off of 151 (I don't remember the exit). We were impressed my the size of Fieldstone Homes, but worried about the quality.

If you worried about quality, you may want to try in the Bella Vista nieghborhood. The Highland Homes are probably what you are looking for if quality is an issue.

I guess it seems like your getting alot of house for a little price. We just worry what the downfall could be.

BA I live in a great neighboorhood called Trophey Ridge that is being built by Medallion Homes. It is at the corner of Potranco and 1604. You could go straight down the 1604 and be at the entrance to Lackland in minutes.
The builder is local to San Antonio and produces a very attractive home. This subdivision is a certified Wildlife Neighboorhood, which basically means that all trees outside of 10 feet of the foundation must reamain. Their homes are also Energy Star certified homes, this basically means double pane gas filled windows and sprayed in insulation.
And the best part you can choose the color of your house.

You are getting a lot of house with builders like Fieldstone and to some degree, KB Homes, but you're also just getting a big box with no distinguishing architectural features (if that's even important to you)...there's also the chance that the quality won't be there and you won't get much of a return on your investment over time or any appreciable resell value.
Trophy Ridge was mentioned on another page and again just above as being a quality neighborhood and development. SA Greed has also mentioned a new neighborhood at Bella Vista further down Potranco. One thing to think about, especially if schools are important to you now or in the near future...Northside ISD has a new elementary and middle school serving the Potranco Rd area for neighborhoods currently both inside and outside 1604. However, the new high school they want to open by 2011 will most likely only be zoned for those areas outside of Loop 1604 and may include some of the new Alamo Ranch neighborhoods along with other high end neighborhoods being developed down Potranco to the west. A friend of mine in NISD planning tells me that that is the thinking right now concerning the proposed new school. That could be an added plus in determining long term resell value if you choose a new area outside 1604.

I second this! Bella Vista reminds me of Alamo Ranch where one half has the trees removed and the other half has lots of trees. Same in Bella Vista where the Standard Pacific homes has no trees and the Highland homes area has trees. Their homes are very nice.

We kinds of like the Centex Homes off of 1604 & Potranco. They seem nice and affordable. Any opinions? Good or bad, doesn't matter. We just want to make sure we're making the right decision & who better to ask than San Antonians. :-)
