It's a waste of time for transplants to go to San Antonio and complain how it's nothing like where they come from and how awful it is. SA natives and people who love it don't really give a care what you think, so get over it.

That.is.all.

Yes, but some of us have no choice about being here. So, it maybe a little more difficult for us to get used to it here. Plus, this may not have been as pleasant of a move as locals would hope for. Not everyone who moves here is happy and giddy about it. Some of us left lifelong friends and family and find it difficult and lonely. Just a thought for you. Oh, and what a "warm welcome" from a local complaining that transplants don't like it here. That. is. all.

Considering that I'm a transplant here and definitely have my share of complaints, all I can say is make the best of a bad situation. Complaining usually falls on deaf ears anyway.

Oh, and lighten up...much of what I said is done so with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

ETA: This is the internetz, after all....sheesh!

Hey, I'm light as a feather. How boring would it be if Mojokitty didn't stir the pot??? I'm always causing some sort of ruckus on this internet City Data board. Like I said, hard to hear what someone is saying over the net. Have a good one!

Mojo-
How is it one has no choice?
Even if you're military, that was a choice to join, knowing you might be sent to places you don't like.
Unless someone put chains on you and locked you up, you have a choice about living here.

Hmm I was going to say that too!

I need to add having black leather interior.

What was I thinking. I have to sit on the edge and wait for it to cool off!

Forewarning: I'm not trying to start anything, but this really struck a little nerve with me. I'm generally a very kind and caring person...honestly...

Chaka...are you seriously going to go there with me? I understand the "choice" to join the military. Which I had no part of, that was my husband's decision before we met. Then you could say I had the "choice" to marry my husband. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love him and respect him more than you could argue. I can't believe you are going to question a person who "chooses" to spend their life serving our country and voluntarily protecting our rights. I understand what you are trying to say, it's just a real lame way to say I had a choice to move here. So, if you want to be lame about this, then yes, we did have a choice to live here. I would hope you would be happy that people "choose" to protect our country and our liberty. I'm done. No more controversy over my orginial post PLEASE! Everyone just lighten up a bit.

I have complete respect for people who choose to serve others in any capacity, including the military.

I don't have a lot of respect for people who make the choice and then say they don't have a choice. One can complain about the situation, I don't deny anyone that right. But it was a choice to join. An honorable one, but a choice nonetheless.

FWIW - I am also here for my husband's job. It's not my first choice place in the world to live. But yes, it was my choice to marry him, knowing it required staying here longer than I intended. I might as well make the most of it and enjoy life instead of complaining about it every day. Life is much better that way.

You lob this little tidbit out and then don't expect some flack.*lol* Being a military wife is not easy, for sure, but going on and on about how awful a new place is, how miserable you are and how your old place is better gets old. Maybe you don't feel that you had a choice, but, trust me, there are plenty of transplants who did and still go on ad nauseam about their misery.
