We go to Canyon mostly since it's so close. We have stayed at a place called "Medina Lake Memories" it is an awesome house & not too expensive. We stayed for a week & loved it, it is s steep hill down to the boat dock, hubby had to carry toddler down.

Both lakes don't have anyplace to eat, which sucks! Well Canyon has one place Papa Docks w/a boat dock but it's really greasy to me.

Others, stay away from Medina Lake. It is dirty, overcrowded, stinky, and the people are VERY rude!!
Your going to the wrong place silly girl. Try mine. It's not crowded, doesnt stink and the people are nice. Most of the time the lake is clean except after a hughe rain. It's not a beach granted, it's the lake.

Anyone been fishing at Medina? Heard there's not a lot of public places there to fish off the banks. And if so, how was the fishing?
There are very few places to fish from the bank at Medina but this time of the year you will have a hard time fishing on the weekends due to all the jet skis and people cruising around. During the week there is much less traffic but also during the week the county park is closed except for the boat ramp. You could try fishing off the bank at Pops place or one of the places down by the dam (Red's Cove, etc). There are definitely gators at Choke Canyon. Probably the best place for bank fishing that I can think of is Calaveras. Almost the entire shoreline along one side of the lake is accessible. Good luck.

I think she is trying to sway others away from our great find! Hence the winking smiley!

We were at the Lake Medina RV Resort this weekend and my husband caught a lot of fish. He released all that he caught but had a good time catching them. He caught perch, crappie, carp and catfish.

Medina is fabulous, since the secret is out I figured I could say it! We have land out there, and we will soon be building a house. We are in the neighborhood where the RV resort is at Leibold's Place. Someone said there are no restaurants, but you can get food at Pop's Place, and you can also pull up your boat at the Oasis, which is beautiful at sunset. We usually ride around, but sometimes fish. The fishing is okay, but trout lines work great. We have caught countless catfish and carp. Carp are the ugliest fish in the world!
