I was thinking jasmine too but the leaves look a little different from what I have. 4'x4'??? do you trim it? I just cut one down to the ground that was about 10'x10' and growing bigger daily!!

I don't think it's a trumpet vine, although maybe they look different here in Chicago. We had a giant one that took over our yard, garage and part of the neighbors yard, so I'm intimately familiar with it!

are the edges serrated or are they smooth . . . .on the leaves. I just looked at our Jasmine (ours has white flowers, thats all i know . . .oh and it smells amazing!!). I guess I could take a quick pic of mine and compare. cant run outside with the laptop or the dog will trample me.

(cant type well with a paleta in one hand either!!)

smooth edges on the leaves.
It doesn't smell like a jasmine - and I specifically avoided jasmines when buying since they make me sneeze, but it could have been mislabelled....

I think I'm going to have to go back to Rainbow Gardens afterall. Maybe leave my wallet in the car...

my jasmine doesnt smell when it has no flowers (wish it did)
but if it does have a smell and currently has no flowers that might be a good indicator that its not - that and the smooth edges! (yay for you!?)

Here is a picture of my jasmine (the plant from heck!!). It isn't flowering right now but the flowers are yellow when it does. This sucker was HUGE and I have cut it back numerous times, it is time for a good pruning again.

Here is a closer picture. I think this is the plant you have Chaka. so sorry. I guess I shouldn't say that, I'm sure some people love them.

Here is the same plant in a different part of the yard. This is the one that I cut down to the ground a couple of weeks ago . It is about a foot tall now, but I will mow it down as soon as I hit the lottory so I can buy gas for my lawn mower

Default Update

So I went back to Rainbow Gardens (bought a trumpet vine...).

The plant in question is primrose jasmine. I didn't think I had picked that one, but guess I did. I had thought this one I had gotten from the 'shade' area, since I recognized all the other plants I got. I went straight to that spot and saw Turk's Cap where Ithought this had been. I was surprised since we have a Turk's Cap in full sun doing great.

Anyway, after some more searching, I found it. It is indeed a jasmine. We'll see if I can tolerate it. The stuff I'm allergic to we called honeysuckle jasmine - has white flowers. Don't know how closely these are related....I passed by the honeysuckle at RG and immediately my eyes itched But was ok over by the primrose.

I'll just plant it in an area I don't hang around often and keep it well pruned. That's what I get for not paying closer attention.

Also got a few wandering jew/purple heart plants. No more trips there for me!
