My friend at work who just got divorced was married 23 years (and no cheating was involved either).

Unless of course you count alcohol as 'the other woman'.

I did my last divorce pro se and it didn't cost me a dime. I filed an informa pauperis with it and the filing fee was waived.

True...some people qualify to file this way, and the fee is waived. Unfortunately, I made waaaayyy too much money to file that way.

yes, i have heard of those... unfortunately, my spouse won't be amicable and when i tried to divorce him 2 years ago, he became extremely vindictive. so, i suspect that hiring a lawyer will be the best route in my situation. thanks for your suggestion though. if he does turn out to have matured in these 2 years (which i doubt, otherwise i wouldn't be needing a divorce), i'll definitely look into a "do-it-yourself" divorce.

thanks again.

i will forever regret not having lived with my spouse before getting married. somehow when you live together the person has less chances to hide things from you and lie through 6 years of marriage and still manage to make you believe that he's right and the world is wrong, that he's mr. nice guy... guess he must live in never never land, along with peter pan and captain hook... unbelievable.

so, yes, be scared of marriage and do not take it lightly. love fades... very quickly when you're lied to. i wish someone had suggested living together as an option before i married mr. nice guy...

Default Joining the "need a Divorce Lawyer on the Quick" Club

What was going to be a no-contest simple divorce when I returned from working out of State has turned into a "file now while he's gone and try to take advantage of him being gone" situation.

Served today (20 Dec) (while out of state) and first court date (temporary injunction day) is back in SA on the 29th of December, so timing is important as well.

I am very interested in effective, reasonable priced divorce attorneys in San Antonio (Bexar County, effectively).

I noticed the earlier posts showed promise, and was hoping to find some similiar enthusiasm and advice.

Thank you in advance for those who can provide recommendations.

Ok, couple questions, do you have children? ages? and property? houses, cars, number of years married? answer those questions, then I'll try to give you a few pointers.
