Good Mexican Food @ Riverwalk
We will be visiting San Antonio in couple weeks and from what we hear the Riverwalk is a must see.
Can anyone recommend a good Mexican Restaurant or any good restaurant on the Riverwalk.
Thanks in advance

@ street level overlooking the riverwalk there is the Mexican Manhattan. Not extravagant but very good mexican food.

Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery, not on the riverwalk but a couple of blocks away. Here is the website www.mitierracafe.com
Also, Paesanos (sounds like pay-zaun-oes) on the riverwalk, GREAT Italian food. This one is pricey and is gourmet. Their Shrimp Paesano is to die for. www.paesanos.com

Try checking out Mexican Manhattan, good place fairly cheap for a lot of food.
You can also hit up Rio-Rio for big portions, Original Mex. Restaurant isn't bad and if you're into more of a modern Mex. type thing Acenar isn't bad.
Here's a resource that might help out

Mexican Manhattan is pretty much only good for lunch IMHO. I think's it's closed for dinner? I would not recommend it for a tourist visit though, it's really just a run-of-the-mill lunch-on-the-go taco joint. Anyway, try Paesano's for Italian. That's always a winner. Casa Rio is always ol' reliable for Tex-Mex...Um, It's really a matter of what you're looking for; fine dining (Biga on the Banks), gimmicky (Rainforest Cafe, Tower of Americas restaurant), etc. What are you looking for?

I second the Biga on the Banks comment. We went there over the holidays and it was exceptional. Unfortunately it does not have the riverwalk ambiance(it is on the river, but in a section that is less visited), but that could also be a good thing.

well Mexican Food is Mexican Food. I never understood why some places charge so much for it. The original poster asked about Mexican food and because MM is pretty close to what I remember being served by my Mama and Aunts, that's what I reco'd. Your right though, I think it may be only a lunch thing. As for anything else on the Riverwalk, I strongly recommend Boudro's Bistro. Get the Guacamle for 2, they prepare it at your table. I have been meaning to try Biga though. Nice location.

Best Mexican food in San Antonio
I recently went to San Antonio & visited the Jacala Mexican Restaurant at
606 West Ave (Cross Street: Hilderbrand St) (210) 732-5222
I saw them on the Food Network Channel & liked what I saw. Although, the neighborhood is quite shady, you will come upon this place that has its own parking lot, with attendant. There's nothing fancy about this place but they have the best food ever! Dinner for 2 came to right under $14!!! And, we were eating off 3 plates full of food. Best Spanish rice I've ever eaten.
Since 1949, family-owned and operated restaurant serves puffy tacos, spinach quesadillas, shrimp enchiladas, refried beans and rice with margaritas.
