Definitely. The locals hate the floaters, but it brings good money to the city. It can get pretty rowdy at times, but the Comal is in New Braunfels also and is a little more tame I think. Some of my best summertime memories involved tubing on the Guadalupe. Good times.

Came across this with some googling and wanted to make sure there wasn't bad information being put out.

Alcohol has not been banned. There are new rules when you are inside New Braunfels city limits. This means all of the Comal River but does not affect much of the Guadalupe itself.

The new rules do not ban alcohol, they just make it a little more difficult to carry

  • No containers smaller than 5 ounces (no shots)
  • No coolers larger than 16 quarts - will hold about 20 beers. This rule is per person so each person in your party could bring their own cooler.
  • Coolers must have a locking mechanism on the lid (zipper, Velcro, latch, cord)
  • No beer bongs
If you pick a rental place that starts at Canyon Lake you will be able to tube for hours without having to worry about the new rules.

Thanks for the update! Looks like we're not all idiots.

Bummer about no beer bongs, though. You don't have to taste it that way!
