Well, if you believe it's a state of mind, then I'm ancient lately! "Much too young to feel this damn old..." as the song goes.

UTSA you mean? Or something else?

'Cuz we have UTSA down here too. I'm always so exhausted by how far things are in this city. My best friend used to take classes at UTSA, both campuses... in the same day! So she drove from the Lackland "annex" to the NE side where her kids went to school (near Rolling Oaks Mall) then drove to UTSA NW, then to UTSA downtown, then back NE to pick up her kids, then home again to Lackland. Crazy, I said!

But she only did it for a couple semesters and she needed to to graduate I guess.
That's the one - UTSA, State Route 1604 campus. She's there during the day and I'm going to be in a program in the evening. She also knows a bunch of students and they all live within a few miles of the university.

good to know!! I wasnt sure about the area and it looks like i can add it to my short list of places to look since I'm looking for something not too far from downtown and an older home under 95k! That is a 78207 zip, right?

News Radio 1200 WOAI San Antonio Texas

Interesting Article on your Hood...

Slightly different perspective here:

MySA.com: Commentary (http://www.mysanantonio.com/opinion/stories/MYSA.062908.OPEDLanda.2c2cd23.html - broken link)

Most salient detail for me was that despite the perception the Inner West side actually has a LOWER crime rate than the city at large.

You need to go into the Northeast thread and tell one of the posters there about this.

Yeah, it is, but I had to respond. We have this exact same issue next door. It's the only problem house on the street...but it's enough!

We basically had 2 neighbors in the one house... there was the one guy who was quiet, work included lots of travel so he was only home like once a month, great neighbor, had plans of fixing the place up when he retired soon, etc. He'd grown up there... but he didn't actually own it. He was expected to inherit it from his mother who was old and ill. It was willed to him, just a matter of time really. He paid the taxes and part of the utilities...

He had a sister though, who was NOT set to inherit it but her 2 adult kids were allowed to live there when the other guy was out of town, and they are TROUBLE. He is their uncle and would end up calling the police on them every time he came in from out of town, but never had the heart to formally kick them out, family stuff... the girl (well she's 20 or something) is making her money on her back, always has guys stopping buy, got her child taken for her drug problems, etc. The son is a thief and we learned LATER that he was one of the reasons the PO's sold this house! He went to prison but is now out.

So the good guy passed away! These people were like vultures, over there within 24 hours of his death taking furniture and who knows what. Now his sister has moved in, she assured me that it would just be her and her grandbaby (her daughter's kid who was taken) and there'd be no more "trouble".. but come on, she's the mother of the troublemakers, and of course she's now given in and let them both come live there too. I just hope they'll behave better with their mom around.

Ugh.

So yeah there's my one problem, and I have a secret desire that if this neighborhood was eventually "up and coming" that the taxes would be too high and they'd have to sell. LOL. Of course if taxes are that high I'd be screwed too... but it would be satisfying!

I just saw this but my experience in the past with people like this is that they do themselves in eventually! I REALLY hate people like that though!
