Default USAA or Charles Schwab Employment?

Hello all! I'm thrilled to have found this forum because I have already found tons of great advice on here. I would be very thankful if anyone could help me with my question. My fiance and I are getting married next June and are strongly considering a move to TX. She would be a stay-at-home mom and I work in the Investment/Brokerage field. We are open to living in either Austin or San Antonio depending on where I can find work. She has family in New Braunfels so we want to stay in that general area. Does anyone have any experience working for either of the above firms or can maybe make other recommendations I'm not thinking of? I am series 7/63 licensed and currently work in a call center environment. I would want a salary position, and wouldn't be interested in straight commission. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Have a friend at executive position at USAA (investment) and I have always heard great things about USAA from him.

Other side of the picture is a colleague working with me who used to work at a non-managerial position within USAA IT and says salaries at USAA are lower than norm with lots of work. This has been confirmed by others within IT as well that I have met.

Just thought to share what I know.

Good luck!
PB

Default Usaa

USAA is a great place to work...I've worked there for 3 years. Even though the salaries are sometimes lower than other companies in the industry, the benefits are much better with USAA! Plus..I think it's one of the best work environments that you can find in corporate America. I don't think you'd regret it if you chose to work at USAA.

Thanks for the replies so far. Eliz, do you work in the brokerage division? I'm trying to get an idea on salary. I work in the Northeast, so I'm expecting a decrease due to the region, but I'm not sure how steep. I make in the low 40's now.

The lower salary will be more than offset by the MUCH lower COL. I'm from Boston, and we cannot afford to move back! My SO is with "The Firm" (USAA), and, while salaries (IT and Business) are a bit lower than, say, Austin, the workload also tends to be less. They go through cycles of encouraging and discouraging OT. Current leadership seems to be swinging back towards a more relaxed (yet efficient) employee force.
