I was reading around and it seems like they give out permits if you want to visit the asylum. (During the day, of course) We would have to contact Commisoner Tommy Adkisson. But a CDSA field trip sounds fun.

Majormadmax are you saying that the Hot Wells Hotel was the old insane asylum? It was a hotel and a place for people with ailments to be treated for cures with Hot sulphur water. It was a resort. Was it possibly an insane asylum before it was a resort?

No, the link Haveblue posted was of the old Insane Aslyum; the Hot Wells Resort remains are a different property and are also privately owned and have 'No Trespassing' signs all over. This
link is the Bird's Eye View of the old Hot Wells Resort.
We also drove by there during our 'Haunted Places of San Antonio Tour' that I put together for the family. We hit all the places mentioned in the larger thread on the subject, I did a little research and plugged them into my GPS. It was a lot of fun...but most you cannot access without prior permission.
