This looks fun to explore as well. Doesn't look like its fenced off or on private property.

Clicky!

Haveblue, that is the old Insane Asylum, which is city property and has signs and fences all over the place that say 'No Trespassing.' And it is enforced!

Additionally, the person that lives across from it is well-known to call the police at the sight of anyone going on the property. We were stopped on the road looking at the buildings and he drove by giving us the evil eye, but since we were doing nothing wrong I didn't care. I would not recommend going on that property unless you have city approval to do so, and even then it may not be a bad idea to get a city official or police officer to accompany you.

But the Donkey Lady Bridge is still on as a proposed CDSA field trip location!

Cheers! M2

I was reading around and it seems like they give out permits if you want to visit the asylum. (During the day, of course) We would have to contact Commisoner Tommy Adkisson. But a CDSA field trip sounds fun.

Majormadmax are you saying that the Hot Wells Hotel was the old insane asylum? It was a hotel and a place for people with ailments to be treated for cures with Hot sulphur water. It was a resort. Was it possibly an insane asylum before it was a resort?

No, the link Haveblue posted was of the old Insane Aslyum; the Hot Wells Resort remains are a different property and are also privately owned and have 'No Trespassing' signs all over. This link is the Bird's Eye View of the old Hot Wells Resort.

We also drove by there during our 'Haunted Places of San Antonio Tour' that I put together for the family. We hit all the places mentioned in the larger thread on the subject, I did a little research and plugged them into my GPS. It was a lot of fun...but most you cannot access without prior permission.

Cheers! M2

OK, I'll make this easy. This is the Insane Asylum on Farm Road off of Southton Road:

And this is the old Hot Wells Resort off of South Presa Street:

They are not the same property, and are 5.4 miles apart.
