That I agree with! I was just saying that the original image that haveblue used was an image of Hot Wells. I would like to know more about the asylum. Do you know the years that it was operational? Sorry, major, I'm not trying to pigheaded.

Majormadmax do you know anything about Red Barry's mansion. Did it catch on fire and burn down or did big business go in and destroy it?

Naw, I was confused as well as I didn't realize that Haveblue's original link was to the Hot Wells, and a later one was for the Insane Asylum. No harm, no foul.
I have had no success in finding much out about the old state asylum, and I am not familiar with Red Berry's Mansion other than the history on its web site...is this the same place you are talking about?
Cheers! M2

That's my Red Barry. I am so relieved to see that it still stands. I guess I originally had the wrong address. Here is a Mapquest of its location:

I did some research into the "abandoned asylum". Actually, it was never a Asylum at all. I was the old county poor farm and county TB Hospital. Then it was a Boys Reform school up until the 70's. Here is what I found out:

Awww...that's no good, I'd rather believe it was some kind of sinister, haunted insane asylum!
Next thing you know you'll be telling me the Donkey Lady's phone number was only a fax line....

Hey, I know his wife! (assuming they're still married)... She has been my belly dance teacher off and on for 18 years now. Maybe I can ask her about it. I am not in class right now, and haven't been for a while (no money) but she has known me since I was 18.. and she should know about it I assume.

I went by the Hot Wells Resort today. It really is amazing.
I'm just fantasizing about how it could be restored and once again be a premier resort in San Antonio. That whole area is a jewel.

Were you able to get on the grounds? If so, could you share how you were able to do that?
I too think it would make for a great restoration!
Cheers! M2
