We are moving to San Antonio in two weeks and I'm starting to look at phone/internet packages (we don't need cable b/c we are going to keep our directv so I can get Sunday Ticket and watch the Broncos). Are there any other options than At&t and Time Warner? Also, anyone have any opinions on which is best and the better deal. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Unless you live in the small area of the city serviced by Grande Communications or live north of the city limits in the area serviced by GVTC (which would be available to you instead of Time Warner), those are your telephone/Internet options.

There are several threads in the forum discussing deals and packages, so it would be worth your while to take the time to use the "Search this Forum" feature (and search for either Time-Warner or U-Verse) to see the deals that other people here are getting.

My mobile phone works pretty well in the area, so there was no need for a land line. Hope this helps if you considering cutting the cord.

Yeah, switched from Sprint to Verizon and now have good signal.

Still need land line though, as monitored alarm requires it (have gun too...but can't have dog). Better for 911 calls as well.

Cellular alarms aren't available here? Cingular works great for me here. Gotta have a GSM phone because I don't want to carry around a brick when I travel.

Not that I know of. I could be wrong. We needed a land line for Brinks. I feel better for the (god forbid) 911 calls as well. MIL doesn't speak English and is sometimes home alone with my 16 month old..I want to have the number easily traced.
I don't want to carry a brick either for travel..actually wish I could carry nothing. Verizon World phone works in almost every country that I travel to.

We have phone and internet with AT&T for about $100 a month. We do TV with Time Warner, which wouldn't be an issue for you, but just to get an idea, they don't make you get the three pack bundle thing. It's just a "better deal" if you do.

But, to get the "trifecta" (what people at AT&T sometimes call it without the TV) you may be able to bundle AT&T cell service with your landline and internet and get that bundle service.
