Default Commuting from S Austin to SA?

Hi all,

I might be moving back to TX from Seattle. We lived in Austin before and really like the city but unfornately, my transfer will be in SA. How is the commuting from S Austin, ie..Buda, San Marcos to the Univ. Healthscience Center in the rush hour. Any comments would be appreciated.

TIA!

Personally, I think you're a loonie tunes, but I have worked with a coupla people who did/do that. One guy lived in Round Rock and drove it every day (north of Austin?). One big key is to try to get on an early shift, like 6-3 if at all possible. Makes for some early wakeups but you miss the worst of the traffic.

Just give San Antonio a chance and move here. The commute on a congestion free day is heck, the thing; the commute is hardly ever congestion free.

Buy a place in Shavano Park or Sonoma Ranch and enjoy the much much much easier commute.

Whats the big deal live in San Antonio, Austin is only 1hr 15 minutes away. You can easily get stuck in traffic in Seattle for this long!

I agree with some of the previous posts. You need to give SA a chance. The drive from Austin is ridiculous and getting worse. I've lived in Seattle and can honestly say that I would rather drive there than through Austin. A friend of mine was commuting from north Austin to UTSA four times a week for school. She was sick of it after a month. I live in Shavano Park and think it's a wonderful area. Save your sanity and take a look around!

I don't know much about the SA neighborhood. If some of you are familiar with Austin, we like the older homes with bigger lots and more personalities ie. Tarrytown, Aboretum areas. I have 2 little ones so school district is important but needs to be near the UTSAHS. Any suggestion?

When did you moved to TX? Seattle traffic is alot worse than Austin. I think it got alot worse starting 4 years ago.

Try Castle Hills, Northwood or Oak Park. Those places are near North Star Mall, Park North Plaza and tons of other shopping selections. I believe (atleast from spectulation) that IKEA is going up at Park North Plaza.
