Man what a bummer. My pops thought he was the greatest.

I only caught the tail end of his career but you could tell he still enjoyed doing it.

Is is true he coined the phrase "It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings"?

Let the man rest. No sports man in this whole city can hold a candle to you until now. RIP buddy.

And now, finally the fat lady has sung... that's for you Danny Boy.

Default Dan was a legend

In this day of pretty boy non substance sportcaster a guy like Dan Cook will be missed. He was the "Sinatra" of sportcasters.

Cook did NOT coin that phrase... It was Ralph Carpenter of Tech's Sports Program.

However, Cook did have a long and varied career. He was a cornerstone of South Texas sports coverage. Some of his other 'Cookisims' reminded me of the things that baseball great Yogi Berra used to say.
