Any other INDIE or Handmade Fiends here?
SA seems a little behind in that area ::sigh::. I'm NOT bashing SA. . I've accepted that we're a little behind. I think it's cute now. Like I said, I know were coming around and there are several great groups furthering the whole "Indie" and "DIY" movement but I just wanted to see if anyone else has jumped on that bandwagon here. I can think of a few of you who might have (from the goodwill thread. . haha!).
If so, where do you shop, what do you do? Are you just a shopper or a creater too AND, most importantly, are you addicted to ETSY like I am?

Thanks for making me google etsy! Looks like a great site, and when I get the bug I will head over there and really check it out!
I have recently started doing garage sales and thrift stores. It's almost addicting--once you've made your first good "find" it's a challenge to find your next one! I never knew what a rush it could be!

Ohhhh, be careful. That's what sucked me in. Do you know I got so bent on "Making my own stuff" (what I see in my head as opposed to what I see in the stores and for those PRICES) that I now own a SteelWorker's Outfit? hahahha!
I'll be welding soon, damn it!

That's hilarious! No, I am not talented crafts-wise, at all. No worries there.
Have you sold anything on there?

I am and have been a knitter since I was young girl. I just went on this site and it looks great! I have knit sweaters, coats, dresses, afghans, and of course hats and scarfs but never thought of selling them. Etsy looks like something that I might pursue. Thanks for the info!

Etsy has been really popular with the stamping/scrapbooking crowd for awhile now. I also have friends who are WAHMs that sew and sell stuff there, cloth diapers, quilts, burp cloths, etc. They even use another payment system other than Paypal (I despise Paypal) and it seems to be taking off as well. It's kinda like ebay for crafters without all the dang fees.

It is! I love it. The fees are very reasonable. I work with glass and have used it for that for a few weeks now very successfully. Until now I was selling wholesale only and using my work in jewelry. Its nice not to have to make jewelry out of EVERYTHING I make now. I have purchased SOOO much though and I always find something that someone ends up asking "OMG where'd you get that!?". I use them for gifts and everyone is always excited about their birthday and christmas gifts that come from me (hooray). I even found some awesome cufflinks for my dad. (omg hard to shop for!)

Do you make lampwork beads? I love them but always had to buy them on ebay and I wont shop there anymore. I use them for jewelry but since moving to SA I have yet to find a good place to buy the silver wire and bits I need to make more jewelry. I'm sure the bead stores exist around here, just haven't gotten the chance to look yet.
