moving to SA - Randolph AFB
Hello everyone! My husband and I are relocating to SA. Would love some suggestions on some nice areas near Randolph to live (30 mins from base max)? We would love to find a new community with walking trails, pool, rec center. New homes with somewhat wooded lots. Do the neighborhoods typically have those amenities? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Actually, just right down the road from the base you'll find everything you're looking for.
There are some great communites right off of Pat Booker Rd.
Also, look into Schertz, Cibolo or Universal City which are very close to the base.

Hi,
We found out last week that we will leave Japan in May and are just beginning the search for SA homes/neighborhoods and wonder what you have found during your searches. We have two children who will be in elementary and middle school; husband will be at Randolph. We desire safe, uncrowded schools for the kids' sake so will sacrifice commute time for location. Also would consider base housing if that is best option. I hope your move to SA was a positive one & hope to hear from you soon. LW

Randolph ISD is very good if you chose to live on base. Around randolph is Judson ISD, Schertz/Cibolo ISD and North East ISD. North East and Schertz ISD are the best with Judson coming in a close second.

Is Kelly AFB located in the same area? If not, can someone tell me where it is? Thanks.

Kelly is across town at basically the intersection of Loop 410 and Hwy 90. Lackland is over there as well.

Thanks, Neddy. Do you think that the Bourne area or Fair Oaks Ranch would be a commutable distance from Kelly? If not, can you recommend some nice areas with excellent schools? Thanks.

Fair Oaks Ranch to Port San Antonio (formerly Kelly/KellyUSA) would be about a 50-70 minute commute. Look into Alamo Ranch or maybe even Stevens Ranch or Redbird Ranch, all on the far west sides of the city with an easy commute via 151 to Port San Antonio.

Randolph from Canyon Lake and nearby
Thanks for the recommendation on Schertz, NE & Judson schools, Smuboy. What is crowding like in north SA schools? Are Canyon Lake, Spring Branch & Bulverde reasonable commutes (less than an hour each way) to Randolph? Thanks for the info.
