Tree Swing (Commerce, Canton, Garden Ridge: for sale, buy, schools)

I would like to put up a swing in one of the trees in my backyard for my youngest son, does anyone know where I can find one? A simple wooden swing with ropes would suffice, I tried Garden Ridge and they said they carried them, but were out. Any other ideas??

And a tire swing is not an option...

When I was a kid we had one that was a milk crate with one side cut out... making a three sided chair. Safe and comfy!
I haven't seen a milk crate in years.
I'm sure you can buy one online.

do a google search for school playground equipment. I used to work at NISD, in purchasing, but for the life of me I can't remember the place where we bought swings.
We have one in the yard and it is real simple, just a piece of black rubber with metal on the sides that the chain hooks to (like they have at the schools). We hung it from a REALLY high limb and you can go VERY high. When the kids were younger me and my husbands had many a fights over how high he would push them. But they are older now and they still love it. Heck even I love it. It's a cool swing.

I will do a google search and see if I can them. BTW, I found mine at the big flea market in Canton, TX (First Mondays) for $5.

Would you be up for MAKING one? Just curious. We subscribe to "handyman" magazine and they outline everything so AMAZINGLY that I've debated starting on a shed myself! haha!

Actually, after seeing the price of a plastic one ($23?!?), I just may make one up myself. Seriously, even though I have limited tools and skills, how hard can it be?

I honestly thought I could find a wooden swing with ropes for about $15 or so. It's not rocket science, I may go see if I can find some plans for one instead...

Well, even before I posted this post, I found this and this. All I did was Goole "Tree Swing Plans" and got lots of ideas. This is probably the route I am gonna take...

My in-laws have a homemade wooden swing. They have had it since my husband was a kid (of course they have replaced the board).
I have to tell you, it is the most un-comfortable thing in the world.

I was just telling my family about your post. And asked them about the difference in the swings (ours and the in-laws). The girls said that "grammy's is horrible", my husband said "yea, it'll knock your teeth out" hahaha, I think this comes from personal experience of getting hit in the face with it as a kid . I was cracking up
