I went to the 24-hour location at the Quarry a while back at 3:30 a.m., on the way to the aiport for an early flight, and my order was free because the cash register was between shifts.

Gosh, I wonder if there will be any left in Corpus Christi? I can't imagine there being that many there to begin with. I was shocked and amazed to discover recently that my hometown (Portland, near CC) has one. Never thought I'd see that.

I don't drag my machine along when we go camping on the beach so I do have a selfish interest here...

We have a couple of little coffee makers (percolator types, where you put the water in the bottom, the coffee in a little filter inside an boil), that we use for camping.

Spend $20 or less on a French press. If you can heat water, you can make coffee, and it tastes much, much better made in a French press...

This is what we did last time but we used my mom's little "travel" FP and it was plastic, poorly made, and we ended up with something very much like "cowboy coffee" and it tasted bad, but we dealt with it. I used to use a FP before (glass) and liked it quite a bit before I got the espresso bug. We are going to look for a better one before the next camping trip (which will not be until it's at LEAST below 80 for a couple weeks straight! lol!)...

I am not fond of percolated coffee at all. I am picky, I know... but hey, it's pretty much my ONLY vice and my ONLY picky thing.

There are travel espresso makers I've heard of but yet to try. There are coffee makers that plug into your cig lighter in the car (we "car camp")... but I've only heard bad things, like it taking 2 hours to brew a small pot. No thanks! I'd have killed someone by the time 2 hrs was up!

It's tough to balance a love of nature with urban spoiledness. (Is that even a word?)

it's a shame since they finally had a "chance" there...lol i man, THREE Starbucks within a mile radius? Let's see, Bitters and Embassy Row, Bitters (next to El Jarro's) and another at Bitters and 281 in Target. I used to call it the Bitters Triangle. i now prefer the independents like La Taza in the HEB shopping center off of 281 and Brook Hollow. It is truly a "neighborhood" coffee house and feels like home. at least to me. i love doing my homework there or just hanging out. check 'em out!
