Default Is this the Old Hot Wells Hotel and Resort?

Can't figure this one out. Is it the Hot Wells Resort and Spa that was gutted several times with fire? Think a group from here was going to go scope it out. Never did hear back from them.

Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible

sorry....this isn't working for me today.

This appars to be a cemetary at the end of cemetary lane. Hotel is still there or at least a large building. (i think)

its across from a mental home but I forget the name of it. I think an adoloscents mental home.

Hot Wells Motel is just south of where Hot Wells hits South Presa on the west side of Presa. Btw Presa and the river. I've been in there many times over the years since I was a kid. The nut house we always simply referred to as (south presa). Simply known as (The State Hospital) has been there since late 1800's just like the motel. No disrespect intended by our chidhood terms!

wCat, here are two pics I took of the Hot Wells Hotel in the 1980's. I use to know the owner, Mr. Charles Schere. I was in commercial real estate in those days. He allowed me access to the Hot Wells Hotel before the fire gutted it the last time.

No, that is the cemetary you were talking about in this thread!

Hot Wells is here.

When you want to post a link from Live Maps, just click on the 'Share' button and copy the URL here...

If a group does get permission to check it out (it is on private property and there is someone guarding it), let me know as I would love to go!

Cheers! M2

M2, I believe the thread you are referring to is this one,
http://www.city-data.com/forum/san-a...ne-asylum.html

The one you posted was wCat's genealogy thread.

The photos gy2020 posted are of what was called the Flame Rpom backin the 70's before the last fire. Just a raunchy little beer joint! Besides the Star Film Ranch located on this property back around 1910- 1912. An elderly lady once told me there was an amusement park or circus on or near the grounds. I know circus people once lived on the grounds up front in trailers. The film company made short silent films , one called "Wings" won the first academy or emmy award. The present owners of the property possibly along with the city have some tentative plans of making some sort of park out of it . With some restoration involved . There are many sites with photos and postcards of the resort. It once looked like swiss chalets.

Oh....Hi everybody! I'm so sorry about the confusion. I should have deleted that link instead of making a note that it wasn't working for me. When I posted it, I saw that it still had that cemetery, and I thought I could fix it in my time limit. Obviously that didn't happen.

I was looking for the cemetery on S. Presa that was mentioned in the Geneaology/Cemetery thread.....and I came across a very large "birds eye" view of what looked like the Hot Wells Resort. Whatever this place is, the remains are very impressive! I'm not sure how to find it on the birds eye viewer and post it. I didn't have any problem with posting that cemetery.

Anyway.....if anyone wants to give it a try....follow S. Presa going North from 410 .....it's quite a way up....and will be on the East side of S. Presa.

I'll give it another try and see if I can get better directions....ie cross streets etc.

Sorry again for blinkin out on you all!
