Yep! It was right beside the Shopper's World on Military and Zarzamora. Right now, that building houses a Gold's Gym and National Furniture Store. I think there's a drugstore right at the corner of Military and Zarzamora, where Mama Margie's used to be.

I'm sure I do remember the slide. Frequented that area a lot at that time. We were living down at Hutchins & Zarzamora from 67 or 68 to about 1975. Got married and moved back to Harlandale! I'm sorry , Harlandale proper. Ow no !! I can't do the smiley with the tongue sticking out on this quick reply thing. Oh Well !

Does anyone remember Flip side...
How about the movie Sugarland Express...They filmed part of the chase and shoot out at (I think) Loop 13...How bout the park behind Globe? We used to hang out at the SA river/dam when we skipped school...We walked past the mission down Pyron and no one ever bothered us...Of course the dam broke....

I finally found this forum? Thread? Whatever, I'm a newbie. I lived in the "Harlandale proper" area from 1961 to 1976. Older brother graduated from McCollum in 1972. I moved after my freshman year at McCollum (1975-76). Was the Spotted Horse Saloon really a saloon? I remember going there for rootbeer floats. Parking in front and they had car-hops. Brother worked at Bud's Foodliner while in high school. LOVED Fed-Mart. Our christmas tree came from there every year. What about the candy counter in the Sears on SWMD - if I close my eyes I can still smell it. Yum, no better malt balls to be found!

Any photos from this time would be nice.......I am curious to what Harlandale looked like back in those days as I did graduate from Harlandale and it would be nice to see what the old neighborhood looked like. I do know that the Harlandale area is pretty much not that much different within the area but once you get out to the South Park Area you're stepping on South San land and that's just too far to be considered Harlandale IMO......any pictures of the old Harlandale area would be awesome.
