Can we bring back the good old days?

Texting and speaking on the phone are not the worst one can do while driving!Mind you I have seen people shaving and others putting their ties on while they driving .

You are absolutely right about that....even READING .....but tread lightly on the cell phone and texting topic while driving.
There is increasing irritation just about "drivers" in this city......without the distractions of cell phones and texting.
Stats are showing increasing numbers of accidents due to cell phone use.....even with a head set or Blue Tooth. Texting is just down right dangerous. Anything that takes the eyes off the road could kill someone. I sat next to a 27 year old man at my dr's office on Friday that was run over by a texter! He had broken ribs, a fractured hip and numerous abrasions all over his body.
Until Texas laws change, it will continue.....but that doesn't mean the general public accepts it.

I was in L.A. a few weeks ago and all the electronic freeway signs were reminding motorists that hands-free cell phones were required beginning July 1st. I haven't done any research, but a friend in the area said that the law, as worded, would allow texting while driving, but talking on the phone would be illegal.

Back on topic - welcome to San Antonio, I think you'll find that America in general is very friendly and that San Antonians are especially so.
If you're looking for a place to stay for one or two weeks and you don't have any transportation (car, bike, scooter) you will be relying on your feet and the bus so even the Medical Center may be a bit far from UTSA for you to get your bearings when you arrive. You may want to look for motels near Fiesta Texas that would be closer to school, as well as have restaurants and shopping nearby for you to begin getting settled. There are a La Quinta, Days Inn, Super 8 and other budget motels near UTSA & Fiesta Texas and it's likely that they may have a negotiated rate for UTSA.
You may also want to try calling the UTSA Office of Housing and Residence Life. The office is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and the telephone number is (210) 458-6200. While they don't handle short-term housing, they probably can make some recommendations for you or refer you to others who may have short-term housing available.
Good luck in your studies!

Why all the secrecy? I don't think anyone is going to give you a hard time for being Tunisian/Libyan/whatever.

Why don't you tell us where you are from? We have many educated world travelers that post on here, and they may be better equipped to help you compare "there to here". It's not likely that anyone here has met you before, or knows your daddy, so where are you from?
