This weekend, Dolly should be clear out of the picture. However, depending on how far north tracks and how strong she is at landfall there could be some beach erosion, albeit minimal, even as far north as Port A.
I say go for it.

Well... I have today and tomorrow off and satellite overnight looks rather impressive.
Current winds as of 7AM CDT are at 65 MPH and further strengthening likely. This seems too good of an opportunity to pass. I have today and tomorrow off, so I'm planning a trip down to the Rio Grande Valley to chase the storm.
I'll keep y'all posted and take pics if I go. Right now it looks like a strengthening Cat 1 or 2 will make landfall around Brownsville Wednesday morning.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be our best chances of rain. Some of the storms will be heavy, with gusty winds possible.
Current radar is showing very wide coverage in the rain bands from Dolly and no doubt San Antonio will get some rain out of this.
I will stick with my 1-4" prognosis for San Antonio on south. The Rio Grande Valley could easily pick up 8-15".

Keep your plans with your trip. By this weekend it should be mostly clear. Waves might be a little rough for a while and be careful with rip currents.

Victoria will be very wet Wednesday. Tropical storm force winds possible... potentially hurricane winds as well depending on how far north this storm goes.
I say you'll be OK, but you're in for potentially rough weather. Keep an eye on the forecast.

Oh, I thought so. I will just have to leave SA earlier to allow for slower driving. I really don't want to reschedule my meeting.
Well I suppose I will be working hard for my money.....even in hurricanes! haha
Thanks for your help and be careful driving down to the Valley.

Was that you in the news tonight?
If you are on South Padre, eat some Bigo's and a burger at Blackbeards.
