Yeah.

Remember, I'm pro-legalization of pot (though I don't smoke, haven't in decades).. that doesn't mean I want a dealer dealing next to me. I have talked here about my "bad neighbor" and I'm pretty sure he deals, probably a "small time" dealer but still. It's not good. People shoot and kill over drugs and money, plain and simple. I don't care if the neighbors want to grow and smoke all the weed they can, but dealing is a different story because of the high potential for violence and conflict. Just the fact that by dealing, others KNOW that person has either money or drugs or both in the house, makes it risky.

Most homeowners care about their neighborhoods as do I. But to suggest that smoking marijuana is bad for society is a double standard. Do you feel the same way about the drinking of alcohol? I contend that the tens of thousands of alcohol related road deaths are more of a detriment to society then smoking pot ever has been. And if this lady likes to water her plants late at night then shouldn't her neighbors have the same right to have visitors at the same time? If not why not?

And I don't really care one bit whether you take think my post is valid or not, fact of the matter is that we already live in a Bushian society where there is too much eavesdropping and surveillance going on. The last thing San Antonio needs is another nosy lady worried about whether there is something amiss across the street.

First, she aint said nothing about the neighbor smoking it, its DEALING! Get that straight. Second, where did you come up with the idea of comparing alcohol to mj is getting OLD, two wrongs, always if you want to make one bad look less atrocious, compare it to another. Stand alone, Marijuana is a drug, it is illegal, there is most likely a dealer, there will probably be trouble due to money, drugs, etc. The OP dont want that on her street. Thats the deal.

While I agree with you that smoking marijuana isn't bad, at the moment, it's illegal.

Visitors are one thing, but when they come into a neighborhood, causing a ruckus and generally disturbing the peace, then it's a problem. What is the difficulty in seeing that?

Why do you care what this woman does in her own neighborhood? Are you the neighbor who's giving her problems? Do you even live in the vicinity? I'm sure if you did, you would not be bashing her the way you have been in your last few posts. You'd probably be grateful that she's making an effort to clean up the neighborhood.

So is sliding into a van full of kids but that doesn't stop people from drinking and driving.

I can understand if the visitors were causing a ruckus it would be a problem. What I don't like is when people nose their way into other folks activities simply because they "think" that something illegal is going on. It's better just to leave things be. Besides, in the drug trade being nosy like that can get you killed. I wouldn't mess with neighbors like that for that reason alone.

This part of your post is so ridiculous I had to laugh. But hypothetically, let's say I was one of the biggest dealers in San Antonio and I lived across the street from you. Would you run the risk of being tagged as the informant who brought me down. Think about it.

It's always been my feeling that if you suspect illegal activity in your neighborhood the best thing to do is contact the local law enforcement, tell em what you have and let them deal with it. That said, it looks like this thread is starting to slide a bit sideways and I think the OP has some good info to work with in this particular situation so we'll call it a night on this one. Thanks folks
