How Do You Prove Someone is DEALING?
The same problem neighbors across the street are dealing. We suspected it before and I didn't mention it in any of my previous posts because I didn't want to cloud the abundance of issues already being discussed with regards to that house. I haven't reviewed every tape we have of every single night (who has the time??) and I have to admit that I've recorded over some that seemed uneventful but we have noticed a pattern.
It just gets better and better doesn't it? I'm a total night owl and I water the plants in the front yard late at night (REAL late. . . after midnight and before three). And yes, I do manage to sleep.
It started out over a month ago when I was outside watering. It was dark and I'm sure the "slow roller" didn't noticed me but I noticed him rollin' up on their house without his lights on. Not that it did any good since his brakes were crap and woke up every dog around. Anyway he parked out front got out, left the door open and about 45 seconds later got back in the car and drove off. I saw another truck stop by the next night - same way. Since then we've seen at least ten different cars do the same but the truck and the squealing brakes car are VERY frequent. I've noticed them on a few tapes and I've seen it in person several times. It's never been light enough to get his plates and they're never facing the camera directly so I don't have that for either car but these guys are dealing. I've heard the word "score" come from across the street more times than I can count. I always figured they were talking about cheap chicks (the guys!)
Anyway, I'm making light of it but I know it's not funny. NOT at all and I'm not sure how to go about getting some attention turned towards them. I do NOT want my name attached to the report (if one can be made) but who else would do it besides myself or my neighbor on the other side? I know they'll focus on me first. I don't want to put my family in a compromising position but it looks like we are either way. I can NOT win with these guys. If it's not one thing, it's another. To drive through our neighborhood you'd NEVER know this kind of crap was here. You might think there were some teenaged thugs who needed a spanking but not this stuff. The landlord will NOT answer her phone and there's no opportunity to leave her a message. I'm sure she'd just call them and tell them what I said anyway.
I'm wondering if my best bet is just calling SAPD. . but then will they actually DO anything?
Oh and one month later the idiot with the squealing brakes is still ridin' em that way. We know where his priorities are. Oh and my husband made what I thought was a pretty astute observation. The ones that do swing by, usually walk really really fast paced or almost run to their door and it's ALWAYS in the middle of the night - I can't imagine a pothead running to anyone's door for anything or looking that excited. . . then again I could be over-analyzing the situation. I can't think straight over here anymore, period!

I dont want to get into a big arguement about "dealing". I can give a tip on it if you see someone "dealing". If you see alot of cars, or guys at a house that came out different hours of the day(for ex. 2:00 AM ) you want to get a little suspicious about that.

I'm not sure I understand what you typed completely but there are always different guys there - coming and going. The traffic is always between midnight and 3 am or a little later. The two cars I mentioned are the most frequent but there are plenty of others. I'm not dumb enough to walk up to the front of their home to see the transaction take place, though so as far as "seeing it" with my own eyes - that's not gonna happen. I won't put myself in that position.

i would call the pd and talk to them about it. or if you see a cop in the area see if you can talk to him, if its his beat and he is bored on night he may just go and set someplace close.

I had the same questionable activity with a neighborhood house, and found how to handle it. quite strange how the SAPD wants you do deal with it. but, it can be done.

I would call the ATF hotline, tell them your concerns and fears.
They may have a "farm" in their back yard, thus the barbecues in the front yard. But I doubt that they are simply growing and dealing pot.
Most likely they are dealing meth, and for sure where there is meth, you'll find heroin being dealt or heroin users. They may also have a meth lab in the kitchen.
These kinds of people have a lot more to worry about than getting even with you. I don't think you have to worry. They just want to run their business without any interference. If you annoy them enough, they'll probably decide to move.
If they are picked up, they'll be offered a deal to give names. They won't take any deal, because if they do, their lives (and those of their family) will be worth nothing--in or out of prison. They'll take prison, and be glad to do so, given the alternatives.

I had the problem with a rental. I saw the same behavior and the neighbors told me about it. I had the car descriptions, no plate numbers. I called ATF. They talked to me and I spoke with one investigator who informed me of the progress. It took about a month for the raid to happen. I didn't see it, but they had the place staked out and raided it one afternoon when I just happened to be there. All of a sudden these cars and pick up trucks swormed from both ends of the street and stopped at the house, in the driveway and on the lawn. Guys jumped out and ran front and back. it was cool!!!
They had dogs and searched the place. The two guys who lived there were taken out in handcuffs. I identified myself to the cops and they told me they found coke and pot.
That was the end of that lease. I evicted them the next day.
It took a while, but it is necessary to get involved and call ATF. They will keep your identity secret and keep you informed of what is happening.
It was well worth it.

I'm totally behind the whole ATF thing - they've got the resources to look into it and take them down. If they're into meth, that's some dangerous stuff. I'd rather live around 100 potheads than just a couple of people into that. It turns people into something else.

Pot is not anything worse than alcohol. At least in my opinion. I have an apartment building that I know at least 2 tenants smoke pot. They are no trouble, pay the rent and take good care of the property. I've also had alcoholics who are more trouble than you can imagine. So there is good and bad with mind(mood) altering drugs.
If it's meth or coke, I will do all I can to get rid of them. Including calling the ATF, whick I related earlier.
