Fence installation: cost of materials and labor
I'd like to get an idea of how much it would cost to install a new fence. I'm looking for your typical residential wood fence. Nothing glamorous.
Does anyone know a cost per foot for wood and a cost per foot for installation?
Could anyone recommend a quality, affordable installer?
Thanks!

The cost of wood, this weekend for me, was about $6.50 per foot, I used 4 x 4 x 8 foot posts, 2x 4 cross, & 1x6 fence slats, did 68 foot, labor, hard to tell, my sons. but you can get two people to do it for about $2 per foot, total should be somewhere about $8.50 to $10.50 per foot. according to lumber used. the 68 foot I did, would have cost me, $715 had I contracted it.

IF you are military connected (meaning have an ID card of some type from the military) and IF you can wait, but the fencing at Home Depot around Labor Day when they give you the 10% military discount...it helps when spending that kind of $$.
I know that Lowe's and Home Depot use to mail out 10% discount cards to new residents as well...not sure if that is still the case.
Good Luck!

staining fences...
Since this is a thread for fences, I want to through out my question. I am looking into staining my fence. We obviously have 3 sides to our fence, 2 brand new and 1 about 6 months old.
How much does it usually cost?
Company suggestions?
Can you do this with neighbors that share the fence in most neighborhoods?

you got to discuss that with your neighbors, as for staining, the easies route, would be spraying, but, for argument sake, lets just say one neighbor dont want it done, you have to do it by hand, or roller, it will use more, get a good 5 gal bucket, and start the Tom Sawyer approach, just brushing it on your side until youre done. They cant do anything about youre side. Most people wont worry about it coming on their side, unless they have a white wash or something of that sort, if you talk with them, and they get their side clean of stuff so it dont get the stain on it, they will probably welcome the stain, seal of the fence. The cost is about $100 for 5 gal and that will do
Average coverage: 1750-2500 sq ft / 5 gal, depending on wood texture

fence installer...
I used KG fencing. They were a small family owned bus. and he had the most competetive prices in town. I just called him and he got me a quote in a matter of minutes.

Staining...
I just had my fence stained as well. I had to check with Hoa and neighbors too. I found a company that'll do it for about $.35/sqft
Length x height x 2 (for both sides)
He spayed then rolled over to catch any runs It looks great

Got lots of cedar on your property? Just cut the branches out, make a hole in the ground, stick the wood in the hole, and then strand some barbed wire across it. Voila! For added kick, make the barbed wire electric.
Oh, you mean the more modern stuff? Okay, dont' know about those....sorry.
