Brinks and ADT don't require landlines. You have to pay a bit more per month, but it's much less than what the landline would cost you.

When we had our Brinks system installed there was a charge of app. $200 for 'the box' used to monitir via call line and an additional $7-8 per month. I've heard that cell line monitoring is safer than land line b/c burgulars know how to cut the land line before robbing you! Hope this helps!

We just had our system upgraded from landline to the cellular monitoring with ADT. Our monitoring went up about $7 a month, but will be getting rid of the landline phone that's running us $45 a month.

you can get a alarm on your home through any alarm company with a thing called "cell phone backup". It is usually just 5 buck more per month. It is nice when you do not want to get a phone line just for a alarm. Plus better protection.

I had no idea you could get your alarm monitored without a landline! We pay $15 a month for a landline just for the alarm. I don't even know the phone number, lol. Does anyone know if Centralized Security Group (CSG) offers this service?

Every alarm company should. It is their backup for when your phone line could get cut in the event of a break in. It is a great service and well worth the money. I would look up them on the internet or call.

We have an internet phone w/cable etc. (Time warner). We just had it hooked up about 3 weeks ago when we moved into our new home...to my knowledge there was not an additional fee charged (I'm positive we did not pay $200)...maybe they charge a little more since we don't have the regular landline-type phone, but I didn't notice a difference.

I have ADT and paid $175 extra to install the wireless box so I don't have a land line. I will be paying about $49 a month, so it's about $8 more than using just your land line. But shop around, because another alarm company came by and offered me much better equipment for free, but it's too late since I am under contract. I got ADT because they were working straight with the builder.

Moderator cut: orphaned

I use Ooma and my alarm company was unable to get that to work in place of my old landline. Instead, the technician installed a box that communicates over the Internet and bypasses the phone entirely.
