Default Boerne ?'s

We are looking to move to the hill country and really like Boerne. We have two small kids, so I'm wanting to know more about the schools. I've read they are all good but are there certain elementary schools that are better or one we should avoid? (Where we live, there is only one elementary school so I am not used to that.)

Also, are there other cities in the hill country that are comparable to Boerne? Good schools are very important. I would like a smaller town feel but one that also has some things (grocery store, walmart, etc.). Travel time isn't a big deal as we are both teachers and would try to work close to home. Boerne seems very family friendly, but we also do not know a lot about the area that way.

Thanks.

Cibolo Creek is the best ES in Boerne from what I can tell.

Can anyone provide any insight to the middle schools and high school in BISD? What kind of commute, i.e., time, is one looking at if driving from Boerne to downtown during rush hour traffic? Is the commute comparable to driving in on 281 from the Stone Oak area?

I'm also curious if there are other towns comparable to Boerne in that area.
