My daughter (a senior) will be starting at Taft this fall. I was just wondering if anyone had any comments about the school. This will be her 3rd high school. My husband is in the Air Force.

My daughter graduated from Taft in 2005 and I liked the school. High school was the first school she ever made it all the way through without moving. My son started Taft, but finished 11th and 12th at Stevens.

The school itself has been around for a long time and has a good rep (well at least from what I have heard). It has its issues just like all the rest.

Your daughter will do fine if she wants to, so long as you are supportive and encouraging. You already know that.

I am a military wife my husband has been in the Coast Guard for 25.5 years. I grew up in Taft and left when I was 19 yrs old and got married. I have never forgotten where I came from. My small town morals and values always stayed with me. Which says alot, being in the military you moved around alot as I have. O f course i haven't lived there for 25.5 years but as I remember the schools were good. Hey i live in Florida now and I have a 14 yr. old and a 9 yr old and I do not like the schools they go to. Good luck!

Taft is a decent school. There are better and there are worse. Communication Arts, a magnet school, is located on the campus as well. My daughter graduated from the in 04 and never had a problem with the students there. I'm a police officer with the Northside ISD Police Deartment and can honestly say its a good school, not alot of trouble. Not too many kids and this school year the new high school will open which will pull kids from Taft to go there. That means Taft will have even a smaller student body. Lower number of kids = better classroom environment and disciplne.

My granddaugter goes to Taft, she came from a small school in the midwest. I was alittle worried at first, but she seems to be doing fine. She is involved in band and is making exellent grades.

Default taft

We just psc'd from Hanscom AFB and my son was in a school of about 800. He was a little nervous at first, but everything went so well. The staff at Taft is super friendly and the teachers that he has are great. He quickly got involved, he plays basketball after school and made quick friends. I also need to mention that he started right in the middle of March, which made me super nervous about him fitting in. But it all worked out. We live in a subdivision that will have him going to Brennan for his jr/sr year. I wish you and your daughter lots of luck, she will do fine.
