Tricare Prime OB (Schertz, San Diego: home, live, centers)

Hey all,

I did a quick search here and didn't find the answer to my question and the tricareonline website is down, so I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me.

My husband is active duty and my PCM is assigned to BAMC. I just found out I am pregnant. Do I have to have all of my appointments, deliver, etc. at BAMC, or can I elect (with no extra cost) to see a civilian provider?

I would appreciate any help that y'all can give me. My experiences at BAMC haven't been so great thus far....traffic, parking, etc., so I am hoping that I won't have to go to all of my appointments there when there are several OB centers right next to my home (Schertz).

You would have to pay, unless the civillian provider had a service that was needed that BAMC or WHMC couldn't provide.

If you are able to get released or assigned to civilian providers, your copay for office visits should be $12 per visit. I know that traffice and parking are not the best but I have yet to spend and hour cruising the lot (as I used to ) at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. There are some better pockets for parking at BAMC. I have rarely been able to use my 'handi-plac' and still have found a spot within the first two rows.
