Hi

Have moved into a home that needs the short pile carpeting cleaned.

I would prefer to do the job myself (or at least try until it's apparent a pro might be needed).

Does anyone have a good rental place they use for such a job? I was 'thinking' HEB, but all suggestions are welcomed.

I live in Boerne, but drive into SA on west side (near Sea World) so could pick up and drop off equipment.

Thanks
Alphabravo

I rented the Rug Doctor from HEB a while ago...found it very easy to use, and it did a better job than a carpet cleaning company that had come about a year earlier.

Used the pre-spot on dirtier areas. It worked well on cut loop and berber.

Often, HEB has $10 coupons for the rental, too!

The cleaners you rent leave way too much water in the carpets and don't do as good of a job. Plus the thought of all of that water going down my drains...ewwwwwwwwww

I had independence carpet care clean 2 rooms, stairs, and a hallway recently for $70. They will do 3 rooms for $60. I'm very pleased with the work, and its totally worth it to me to pay to have a professional do it.

You often get what you pay for. Steam isn't a good method to go because it soaks the pad and causes it to deteriorate and mold because water takes too long to dry. Soaps can also leave residues that will attract more dirt. If you have a chem-dry in your area, I would call them - that is who we try and use. It is more expensive than most but they do an incredible job and it is totally dry in about an hour or two.
