Hello.....

I am moving from Portland Oregon and I am living in the area around Evers school.

I went and checked it out last week and the people were so nice.. but I have heard of alot of gang activity?? Is this true. Is my 8 year old safe??/

Any other advice will be apprecative. I am very nervous to move there.

Hi Oregon...welcome to SA. Are you referring to Evers Elementary School or the street named Evers? Could make a difference in the answers you get. I happen to live down the street from Evers Elem. and I've never felt unsafe in this part of town. In fact, quite the opposite. I've not heard of a lot of gang activity in our area. My daughter has walked home from school for two years now from Warren High School (around the corner from Evers) and we've never felt she was at an elevated risk by walking.

My 8 yr old goes to Evers elementary also, and my stepson goes to Warren, so, Im assuming you must mean Evers rd? Cause Evers elem is a decent area.

We moved from the PNW 2 years ago, I went to elementry school and middle school in East Portland. Evers elementry is in a "good" area but you should prepare yourself for a big culture/social/environmental shock. If you want more feedback on this feel free to DM me. Welcome to SA!

Better??? Exactly what is wrong with Portland in your eyes? I would not personally choose to live in Portland again but I do love to visit it often. We have family in Gresham. I went to Glenfair Elementary and HBLee Middle School. We lived near 162nd and Stark, it's not the greatest area and that was over 20 years ago. If you were moving to the Evers Elementary area from where we lived in Portland it's definatley a step up! San Antonio is very different from Portland as a whole though so be prepared. How long have you lived in Portland? Why are you moving? These answers could make a difference in how much you will be affected by the change. We moved from North Seattle after more than 20 years of living there. The reason was for the weather change. I am finaly over my homesickness, but I still miss the PNW a ton.
