Default Commute times question

Hubby's commute is going to be a bear to figure out, as he'll be working at various locations.

His new job is as medical director for a new hospitalist program starting at SouthWest general, (some of you may know that it's been bought out by a new company who plan to expand and improve it greatly) BUT...

The company also has contracts online for next year to begin hospitalist programs at Baptist and Methodist hospitals, and also the hospital in Port Arthur. They are also opening a new very large Family Practice and multi-specialty practice in the Northeast, which is where the administrative offices for the region will be. It's supposed to open this summer.

As regional medical director, he's going to have to commute to those three hospitals within SA, plus the main office.

From looking at the map, I'm figuring our best bet is going to be to stay at least within 1604 if not 410 and hope for the best. I think that for us, staying sort of central with quick expressway access is the key. Does that sound right to you guys? Are there any areas that are known for being real bottlenecks with bad delays?

Worst one right now is 1604/281 interchange. It was build without direct connections. 281 north of 1604 isn't a freeway it's just a divided highway. 410 and 281 is getting a new interchange built, but it's not too bad.

90W at 1604 would be a good area. The traffic is not to bad and he'd be looking at a 15 minute commute to SW General and a 20 minute to Baptist DT. Also a 20 minute commute to the Medical center (Methodist), about a 30 to NE Baptist. Look in this area. I work as a medic there and live there as well.

Thanks for the tips, smuboy and firemedic. I know there's much we can't really decide on wwithout being there in person, but I'm getting impatient to get there. Hubby will start in March but I won't be joining him til after school is out in early June. That does give him time to scope out the housing, commutes, etc, as he'll just do the extended-stay hotel thing until I come.

MP....the first question that came to my mind is which Baptist and which Methodist? Or would it be the entire system...ie Baptist Healtcare System etc? If that's the case, the hospitals are all over the city and your plan to stay central sounds like a good one. Add that to your desire for MCM, then that might take you back to Harmony Hills! It sounds like you're getting it narrowed down!
