Tags I'm sure.....I am okay with graffiti art, provided its done with the permission of the owner whose property its done on or on the "artists" own property. But gang tags, symbols, and half ass drawn tag names is really sickening and crappy to look at.

I Moderator cut: 6 words, see comment #2 and substitute "call" them "illegal aliens" because that's what they ARE. Further, why the need to use a gross generalization Moderator cut: see comment #2? Have you nothing better to do to bring up unrelated topics and use generalizations. Moderator cut: see comment #2 Stick the subject at hand or say nothing at all. Moderator cut: see comment #2 You stray from the real issues at hand and try to change the subject. Moderator cut: see comment #2

Reason: 1. updated quote to match original 2. National politics are off-topic in C-D's local forums.

For those that think that murals will keep taggers away... I have some bad news. Check out the story at Vandals Target Northwest Side Church - San Antonio News Story - KSAT San Antonio which tells how some "people" tagged not just a church (which I believe is a felony), but also their mural which was painted by the neighborhood!

I would love to stalk some taggers, follow them home, wait until they go inside, and spray paint the heck out of their parents' car/yard/mailbox/house with a nice note included.
I wonder how effective that might be? Hmm.

Gorilla Glue the front door shut. Better yet...Gorilla Glue any thing that is not nailed down, locked or secured.....including the windshield wipers on their car and a nice big glob under each tire. Glue any potted plants, garden gnomes, bicycles and skateboards to the car too. Write PS THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND GRAF in Gorilla Glue on the front window.
Of course I'm kidding. I would never promote something illegal since it's against TOS. But it's fun to dream about.

While some of you may not like or appreciate graffiti ART it is here to stay. I can say that because Im passing my love of graffiti art on to my kids. My 16 and 8 year olds know their graff history. From Taki 183 to Wild Style to Ramo to Infamy to Clogged Caps. There is lots of history. Every kid now is growing up with graffiti all around them. Graffiti and street art will in some way influence every new artist being born.
I personally think graffiti and hip hop can save the world. I would rather see a kid with a mic in his hand or a can of spray paint than with an AK47 or a vest full of explosives.
Say what you want but it is art. What else can you call the beautiful work displayed in some of the prior post.
Clogged Caps 6... We cant wait!

since I can't say anything bad about garbage/graffiti in the thread this is from I'll reply in this one where the vast majority of people see graffiti for the ghetto eyesore that it is.
I totally don't agree with that kind of parenting and would recommend concentrating on education and maybe sports. Two things that will actually get you something positive in life.

Totally agree with you on that one and I can say that in this thread

I live in the Great NW, and the area is kept up well, Silver Creek, Village Northwest, Stagecoach Crossing, there is some tagging but it is quickly cleaned up. It's a nice middle class area, nicely manicured lawns, nice homes from 120K upward of 200k. Les Harrison is the problem area which is about 1.5 to 2.0 miles away. Anyway there are several police officers that live on my street, and I know they keep an eye out for this lil $%^&*rDs!!
Something needs to be done. Make spray paint cans harder to buy by the general public.

Yes, we're fortunate enough to have the A-Team, who organize cleanups and collect paint for the city. SilverCreek78250 and others ride around randomly to check for new tags and will cover them up as soon as they see them. We do have a nice area, there are just some hood rats that aren't parented properly....there is one that lives about 10 homes down from me, and he needs his butt kicked in a bad way.
The Les Harrison/Hidden Meadow area has just gone so far downhill the past 15 years or so. It used to be pretty well-maintained and the smaller houses were cute and well-kept. Not any more.
