Free Catfish Dinner at Acadiana last night
This is just a late FYI but I got that yellow post card in the mail inviting up to eight people to attend a free catfish dinner at Aciadina Café . You had to sit thru a brief Fire Safety Awareness program but the dinner for everyone was completely free I am about as leary of free stuff as they get but my daughter talked us into going. So we called some good friends that would be willing to sit thru the program with us. It turned out great!! The dinner was good ( I don't eat fish so they gave me chicken) and the presentation was very informative. There was no pressure at all, nothing to buy. You had the choice to either let them call you, or you can choose to call them, or just walk away. We did decide to let them come out later this week and give us a free fires prevention inspection ( and receive a free fire extinguisher) and they do have stuff to sell but the guy was not pushy at all. One set of friends chose to have them come out, the other did not. No pressure.
The reason for the post ( notice I did not even give their name) was to let anyone know that got the card, there is another dinner Tuesday. There is still time to call and you just might have fun.
We also got one of the many offers for a free weekend at Thousand trails RV park at Medina. Have never taken advantage of those.....just might this time!! You know I had to work camping into this somewhere!!

That's almost as bad as free crab tomorrow at Joe's Crab Shack.
I'm busy, or I'd think about going--Acadiana used to be pretty good, but it's been a while.

Whoa wait!! Before you to to TT park let me set you up as a referral from me. If you buy I get some $$$ knocked off my dues . You still get the same 3 days/2 nights camping. You do have to take their 90 minute presentation though.
I have heard of people who took advantage of the camping and scheduled their tour for Sunday and then left before the presentation .

I went one of those Thousand Trails presentations about 20 yrs ago. It was pathetic. On saturday night they had some kind of BBQ or catfish or something with a band afterwards. There were a bunch of old men (salesmen) running around in grass skirts. That night they came around and told us that we had to turn the lights out at 10 o'clock. The next morning I went and sat though the presentation. The salesman was trying to tell me that in another 10 yrs the world is going to be so bad that you won't be able to go camping except at some compound like 1000 trails. Places like that may be OK for some folks but when I go camping I don't need anyone to come by and tell me what time to go to bed. It's just not for me.

I was smoking ya out!!!
Chances are slim that we would buy into it, maybe just go for the free weekend. The one I got is for 4 days/ 3 nights. I have been getting those things for years and just never used it. I understand if you don't sit thru the presentation you will be charged for the weekend. Thats fair. We would do it right off then have the free weekend.
I get all these offers, just might start using them ( and yes, I will be careful and not sigh anyting!! . I used to do it years ago. Some of them were quite nice and got some cool stuff.

wow, they have never ever came by and told me anything about when to go to bed. And believe me there have been times when they probably should have . I have been up until midnight or so with my radio playing outside and some pretty rowdy friends and I haven't been told anything. Sorry you had a bad experience.
I will admit that some of those activities they put together are cheesy but I never go to them anyway. We usually have our own entertainment .

Yes you should definitely take advantage of the free camping part. I would have not really let you buy through them anyway, they are too expensive, (but I think they give me something even if you don't buy). I got my membership off of ebay .
I used to work in the sales office a loooong time ago when I was just out of high school (about 20 years ago). They used to run those tours through there like crazy!! it is not like that anymore, there are only a few salesmen now, as there used to be about 20 or so. It was like walking on to a used car lot, UGH!

You have to take it for what it is and just enjoy!! It has good lake access for the jet ski and is closer to the cliffs than where we stay.
We just take our fun inside after 10 . Most places have quite time anyway, no biggie for us.
Forgot to mention catfish so we can stay on topic!!
My hubby loves catfish. We cook it sometimes when we go camping!!!
