Default Mom and Pop Restaurants

I know there has been many threads of "favorite restaurants" and such but they always seem to be chains. What about mom and pop type restaurants? What are the good ones? Where are they?
We finally made the drive to Big Lous as we were really wanting good pizza. Loved it! Wish they had a bigger menu of other Italian items though. Just got me wondering what else is in this area that's not a chain and doesn't break the bank.

The Bavarian Haus on FM 78 in Kirby. Closed on Sunday and Monday, open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Friday, dinner on Sat. If you drive by too fast you'll miss it. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Delicious.

Hey Mama, I know you are pretty close to where I am. Have you ever tried that Molino that is called Luz Verde? It is just past Amhurst on the left hand side. It is very decent and very inexpensive. My wife and I go at least twice a week. They close at 3 pm.

We love that place. They use to be open at night but it didn't work out. They have the best tacos.

I haven't heard anything else about Sips-n- more. How are they doing? Anyone know? That was a cute place.

Sorry, it's on Potranco about a mile past 1604 on the left hand side. Just before the Dollar Store.

You would be suprised at how good the burgers are. My wife and I can eat for less than 10 bucks so we wind up leaving a 5 dollar tip because the wait staff is so nice plus you can't get food like that for less.

Mom & Pop restaurants are my fav!!

Sawasdee on Blanco for Thai

Dough (also on Blanco) for delish pizza and salads (more gourmet.)

-both places are on Blanco just inside Loop 410.

I know I'll think of more. I avoid chains like the plague.
